Lee A Mancini, MD

I broke my ankle and it was a trimalleolar fracture. We went to the emergency and they put a cast. In 2 days we got an appointment with Dr. Lee A Mancini and they (along with 2 assistants) looked at the original fracture X-rays. They discussed and talked about the fracture type, my pain level, swelling, etc. All looks good and see a surgeon after 2 weeks to decide whether a surgery is required based on your healing. We got an appointment with the surgeon next door in the same office and the surgeon didn't take new Xrays. He looked at the old original Xray and said we have to do the surgery as early as possible. He was questioning us why you waited for so long to see a surgeon. We were not sure so went to another Surgeon and showed the X-ray and he said and it can't be fixed without surgery. So we went with the new Dr. out of the UMass Memorial and we lost confidence with them. They have to break the wrongly healed bones and did the surgery. We went through the pain unnecessarily for… the initial 2 weeks and bones healed in the wrong position and post-surgery we have to go through additional pain because of the additional breaking. I don't recommend this Dr. and for some reason, you have to go please do research and verify his treatment. Just don't go by what he says. It was an extremely painful experience and we are still going through the pain.

I truly was impressed with Dr. Lee's energy when he walked in the room. He has experience. He suggested physical therapy and massage grastin method. After 6 weeks of PT I physically got 60 percent better. My gut was telling me to continue the physical therapy. When i had my follow up he listened to me and agreed. I am 90 percent better now after the PT. I am still doing the massage and exercises.

He uses his standard protocol with very little explanation. He came in after intern examined and gives a quick reading of his protocol. He must assume we all have experience in medical conditions. We dont, that is why we are there.

Dr Mancini, diagnosis was vague, no followup, knowledge of distance running in older runners is poor, I was treated like a fool. I would never see him again or recommend any family and friends to avoid him
