not a good doctor

After an accident, the top Ortho surgeon in my home town of Columbia, referred me to Dr. Galatz because he said I was a mess and didn’t know where to start. Dr. Galatz never hesitated. She reattached two rotator cuff tendons on the right shoulder and after healing and re-hab replaced my left shoulder joint. I was told that the right shoulder would probably need replacing in the reverse method but that I should wait as long as possible. Trying to be either tough or stubborn, don’t know which, I waited six and a half years only to find out Dr. Galatz had left for New York a year earlier. If I could afford it I would have driven to New York and had my other side fixed. After six total joint replacements and four non ortho surgeries, be sure and confident Dr. Galatz is at the top in her field.

She is short uncaring and In a massive hurry to get out of the exam room. She doesn't have anytime to listen or answer questions or concerns. Or to explain any course of action she plans to take. She is snotty and uppity and talks down to her patients. She did surgery on me that I didn't ok taking it upon herself to tell me she was doing one thing and then once I was out did a completely different surgery. Virtually using me as a lab rat without my consent then left me in a sling for over 3 months and telling me there was no way my shoulder would freeze with scare tissue. Yet here I am 6 months out of surgery in great pain taking fairly strong narcotics and other pain relieving agents horrible mobility and to top it off the problem she was ment to fix is already returning. My therapist is shocked saying she is lying because anyone anyage can get a frozen shoulder in a month with no mobility. I cant believe I put my trust into such an arrogant unprofessional doctor and now need more… surgery and will probably be permanently damaged from her experimentation.

After a failed rotator cuff surgery, we went to an Orthopedic Surgeon who said he could not help me. He said that he wanted me to see Dr. Leesa Galatz and that if she could not help me, nobody could. He was right!!! She performed surgery and I am doing 100% better. I will never be the same as I once was but I have movement in my right shoulder and arm and do not have the pain I had before.

This was my first and last experience with a Wash U physician. She was dismissive, didn't discuss my concerns or even review my history with me after I had spent time filling out 8 pages of documentation of medical history. She was uncaring and after I finish paying for the series of xrays and this visit, I will have to seek out another physician who can help me with my pain and numbness.

The original Dr. That was going to operate on my son couldn't, so she took on extra patients. This worried me but ended up a blessing. She was wonderful!!!! My son's shoulder surgery went great, he has healed & is now back on the football field.

Met Dr Galatz because another Dr messed up my broken shoulder. Dr Galatz performance repairing and replacing my shoulder went beyond my expectations. She showed knowledge and without trying to be my best friend, was caring and supporting. Her skills and bedside manners are spotless. Three months later after my replacement she also repaired my rotator cuff on the other shoulder damaged in a car accident, at this time she showed a compassion that only I expected from a relative. There are not enough words that I can use to describe my experience with her. She is an amazing, gifted and kind lady.

Does not listen to patient's concerns. Not willing to accept that not all outcomes are good following her treatment. Failed to show up for my first post-op appointment, which delayed my pt by 8 weeks. More willing to speak to case managers than her patients. Very sarcastic and condescending. I was warned by a staff member before my first visit that her bedside manner was lacking, but clinical skills were excellent. Unfortunately, I feel her clinical skills are also lacking.
