Dr. Lehel Somogyi, MD

I was very satisfied with my appointment at the Oregon Clinic. I felt Dr. Simonyi was very attentive and interested in helping address my health issues.

It was time for that 10 year colonoscopy. Dr. Somogyi was very clear in the consultation appointment; he answered all my questions and did not act rushed or absent-minded. The preparation was grueling, as usual. The procedure itself went very well. And again, Dr. Somgyi and the staff were excellent in their care, explanations and follow-up needs.

Everything was quick and explained well. Quick and easy.

Prep agents were horrid. This part of procedure went better when procedure performed prior time. I was advsed doctor was going to talk with me about findings but after waiting twenty minutes and then learning from a nurse that the doctor was performing another procedure, I left. Given that results were not entirely positive, it would have been nice to hear this from doctor instead of learning of it for the first time when I read the written results a few days later.

Dr. Somogyi listened intently and knew exactly what was happening with me. He understood that just because your blood levels aren't elevated, doesn't mean you aren't having an acute pancreatic attack. Not all Drs realize this fact so they tell you they won't or can't treat you, Dr. Somogyi is very well aware of all things related to pancreas/liver/sphincter of ODDI disorder and that blood levels aren't always an indication of problems!

i was referred to Dr. Somogyi by another GI who attempted and failed to treat my bile duct stricture using ERCP. Dr Somogyi repeated the ERCP with no success, and I then developed severe, acute pancreatitis. I was in Providence hospital for close to five weeks and am still trying to recover. Dr. Somogyi treats me with "kid gloves"', always returning phone calls and making himself available.

THE UNIQUE DOCTOR I trust and will always be thankful toIve known Dr. Somogyi since 2004. I first learned of him when I read one of his articles on pancreatitis on the Internet. Being a physician myself, I immediately recognized a great doctor. My first impression was fully confirmed at our first personal meeting at the Oregon Clinic. My trip from the Midwest to Portland paid off. He corrected mistakes made by my previous doctors, prescribed the right treatment and gave the right recommendations that worked wonders for me he basically saved my life and prevented me from becoming a total invalid.The fact that Dr. Somogyi has trained and mentored younger colleagues tells volumes about his professionalism. Even though I live in the Midwest, I still prefer to have all my GI procedures done by Dr. Somogyi. His review and interpretation of my medical history and his reports on the GI procedures he performed on me represent the gold standard of how these should be done. Dr. Somogyi learned… at a great medical school and has had extensive practice in American and European clinics, past experience as a researcher and constant self-education. He is totally dedicated to his work and loves it. I trust Dr. Somogyi with my health and would entrust him with my familys health were they ever to have GI problems.
