Dr. Leland Troy Sullivan, MD

Poor poor bedside manner. I'm a medical professional also and seeing my family in pain for days and days prompted me to finally take him to the er despite him trying to "get through it" on his own. This physician did no labs on someone vomitting for multiple days. Treated the pt (actually didn't treat the pt) based on one set of "ok" vitals taken out in the er lobby. Didn't set the pt up on a monitor after giving a sedative and didn't hook the pt up to oxygen even though the pt did just receive a sedative and I had to wake him after being apneac for 30 seconds at the longest (thank you iphone stop watch). Then after my miserable family member says he is still nauseas, the physician scolds him and tells him he's being discharged. What a sad world we live in that the non paying patients get admitted and the hard working payers with insurance who work get nothing from the health care system.

My rheumatologist sent me to the ER for suspected meningitis. She called Dr. Sullivan ahead of time to explain her concerns. She also sent me with a note that specifically said possible meningitis. After a blood work up Dr. Sullivan told me "your white counts are a little low". When I told him I was afraid of a lumbar puncture, in a lot of pain, and I just wanted to go home he said ok. My insurance company denied this visit as being 'non emergent' as it was just a headache. Even though I returned the next day as my rheumatologist called me because the blood work up showed across the board pancytopenia, and she said I must get a lumbar puncture. My wbc had not been a 'little low' but in fact was a LL with a note that it had been phoned in and read back. I was admitted that day after a visit with a different Doctor. My stay was 4 days total. Although I didn't have meningitis, I did have bone marrow suppression with methotrexate being the suspect. I was given leucoravin… rescue. I think that Dr. Sullivan lost interest and didn't pay attention to the details of my CBC. Telling me that my wbc was a little low was quite an understatement. He never mentioned that my other counts were also low and my liver enzymes were high. Next time a doctor says a little low.... I'll be sure to ask for the actual results. Had I known how dangerously low my blood counts were I would have been in a better position to know what to do.

I came into the ER after having seizures. I felt very comfortable in his care. He was professional, personable, and overall I felt the level of treatment I received was appropriate and expertly administered. I will put it to you this way... MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR ISNT ANYWHERE AS PROFICIENT NOR HELPFUL. ID RATHER HAVE DR SULLIVAN AS MY DOCTOR!
