Dr. Leo Simpson, MD

Dr. Leo Simpson came to meet me after beginning the cardiac cath on my husband. He suggested a bypass because he said it was too risky. I told him that he was covered by lots of prayer. He said he would try again. It was not long after that a call came through to the desk saying that the stent was placed. Praise the Lord!

He is a man of few words but saved my husband’s life. 100 stars to you Dr. Simpson. Thank you.

I met Dr. Simpson 3 years ago at St. Luke's hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Simpson came in my father"s room and asked me who I was. I told him I was the patients daughter. Dr. Simpson went on to say in his exact words, "Your dads heart is done! It is only pumping less then 9%. If he don't get a mechanical heart or get on a transplant list he will only have 6 months to live." I know you can imagine how my entire family must have felt. My father decided not to do either procedure after getting a second and third opinion. He is still amongst the living 3 years later. My dad had a medical emergency April 26, 2017 that lead him back to urgent care which in turn lead him back to the St Luke's Cardiologist department. Dr. Simpson was once again his doctor. Dr. Simpson walked into my dads CCU room and didn't even acknowledge his presence. He batted his hand as if he was batting him away. He said to me and my mother, "I know this man and I offered him a transplant or mechanical heart before… and he didn't want it, now there is nothing we can do for him." Me, my mother and my father were sad to here that of course but had to except what Simpson had said. That same night a nurse came in and explained that Simpson had put in orders to start seeing if my father was indeed a candidate to be placed on the transplant list. As you can imagine the confusion that set in. The very next day a team of doctors came into my dads room and introduced themselves as the team that would be working on his case to qualify my father for the double transplant. My dad agreed to the transplant and the family was all on board. Then another turn of events happened. Dr. Simpson said my father would have to wait in the hospital until the organs would come available. Which could take 3 to 4 months or even longer. My father said he wanted the transplant but it was no way he could stay in the hospital that long. Dr. Leo Simpson became very upset and said to my dad he didn't have time to waste on him and that if he didn't want the transplant and go through with all he asked he would send him home that day. He started making arrangements to send my father home that day. He also sent a representative in to start talking about Hospice care. I am not sure if this was to scare the family or what but it did. It was a very emotional and draining time. After speaking with me and my mother he agreed to let my father stay in the hospital and a fistula was put in my dads left arm for dialysis purposes. He then sent my dad home on a Dobutamine infusion pump. He said that my father needed it to stay alive but my father actually got worse with the pump. Dr. Simpson seems selfish and lacks decorum when it comes to patients who don't agree with him. I'm so sorry my father in the mist of his very serious illness had to be subject to Dr. Leo Simpson's arrogant attitude. It really hurt my father and our family. My father feels like he does things to spite him. He says it's your decision but when he makes a decision he does things to try and hurt my father.

Dr. Simpson is an excellent surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner. He ran several tests and found that I had blockage after others missed the diagnosis. I found him to be comfortable to talk with, knowledgeable, and genuine in caring about my well-being. I highly recommend Dr. Simpson!

Aggressive treatment in the hospital and compassionate bedside manner. I think my family was fortunate to have had such a hard working and intelligent physician to quickly diagnose and treat my grandmother. We could not have had better outcomes by anyone else anywhere else
