Dr. Leon Lucien Parks, MD

Was told to take my unstable Post Op Thyroid Management Care To my Family Dr. I found him to be condescending, unprofessional and rude. Was probably afraid of lawsuit as Parathyroid was severed during my Thyroidectomy. Former Vanderbilt OR Nurse

Dr. Parks bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. He fussed on my daughter (23 years old) for coming in after finding a new lump in her throat. She's had thyroid cancer and in a year, had it return in her lymph nodes so she is anxious when finding another lump 2 years later! He needs to be more considerate to the needs and concerns of his patients instead of 'fussing' on them.

i recently had thyroid cancer & dr parks wouldn't listen to anything i had to say about my medicines or how i was feeling. he told me all patients tell him to "treat the person & not the numbers on the lab sheet" & he didn't even do that!! i asked to be switched to another dr there in the vanderbilt clinic & was told by the staff that once you ask to switch doctors, none of the other doctors will want you as a patient! i could not believe this!! so basically, you have no choice even though its your money & your body, you have to stay with which ever dr they choose to put you with for the rest of your life!! i fired him & i am going elsewhere!! don't waste your time or moneyâ?¦stay away!!

Really love Dr.Parks. He is very nice and easy to talk to, he really takes the time to talk to you and answer your questions and is always quick to get back to me on a question. Unfortunately it's not the easiest office to get an appointment with but I find that most endocrinologists offices are that way. I see him for Thyroid Disease.

About 15 years ago Dr Parks was my internist and endocrinologist. I was a critical care nurse. I became so tired I could hardly manage to get to work and my legs seriously ached. I asked Dr Parks to approve some medical leave for me so I could find out what was wrong. He would not and he told me I should see a psychiatrist. He ordered no diagnostic testing at all. He said if he signed for the medical leave, he could "get in trouble down the road." I never did understand that statement or why he thought I should see a psychiatrist. I found a good doctor who did the right things. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Of course, I didn't see Parks again. It's been a long time but it still bothers me that I was treated in such a manner.
