Dr. Leonard Kaplan, DO

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Kaplan and OWM. Recently I went in to see Dr. Kaplan for pain and instability issues I had been having with my right knee. I had a PRP injection in 2017 by another physician, which had helped my meniscus issue, but the pain and instability returned. After a long and thorough examination of my knee, the treatment plan from Dr. Kaplan was 1 Stem cell injection and 1 PRP injection, 4 weeks apart. His approach to both of these procedures was completely different than the PRP injection I had in 2017. It was much more complete/ thorough, and targeted the specific problem areas of my knee which would help me in the long run. I am at 3 weeks post 2nd injection now and feel it is healing as I begin to rehab with physical therapy. The entire team at OWM is courteous and professional. Brianna & Beth who worked in the front part of the office, were very organized and helpful. They spoke with me on the phone before coming in, and explained the… procedures as well as set up my consultation and following appointments. They were also always there as I came in to help with any insurance, billing, scheduling issues/concerns. As I was brought into the back for my several appointments, I was greeted by Sophia and Meagan. They made you feel at home, while gathering the detailed preliminary medical info that was needed. Their demeanor was always patient and professional as they also assisted Dr. Kaplan with the procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Kaplan and the OWM team to anyone considering the types of treatment he provides. In addition to the Stem Cell and PRP, they offer a wide variety of other health services. I look forward to going back into the office to see Dr. Kaplan and the OWM team.

Dr. Kaplan has treated multiple body parts for me between Prolo and PRP. In particular my ribs had been an issue for me for a very long time, but I didn't know that was the problem, I just suffered through my bouts stabbing and searing back pain, but Dr. Kaplan was able to diagnose and treat my ribs that were slipping, if it wasn't for him I don't know if I would have ever known what the real problem was or get the treatment I needed. Dr. Kaplan is very compassionate and listens very well. He tailors his treatments to the patient and their needs, and modifies the treatment plan as healing progresses. I'm very grateful for what Dr. Kaplan has been able to do for me and helping me get back a good quality of life.

Dr. Kaplan is one of the best and most innovative physicians not only in Buffalo, but that I have encountered anywhere. He tirelessly continues to research integrative medicine techniques and after thorough vetting implements them into his practice to help patients truly heal. I am so grateful for his expertise and that someone is doing the work he is via prolotherapy and other non mainstream modalities. He is a rare blend of brilliant and kind. I refer people to him all the time. I had prolotherapy with him several years ago for an injury in my foot and it helped tremendously. This past year, he helped me with ozone, prolotherapy and other nonsurgical techniques to reinvigorate my body's own inherent ability to heal itself. His holistic approach and the way he works with other complimentary disciplines is the barometer to which other physicians should aspire.

I had seen Dr. Kaplan for some prolotherapy for my SI joint dysfunction in previous years so there was no question about who I would go to first when I injured my knee. I had had a previous ACL tear that was surgically repaired and grafted 10 years ago. I tore the graft while skiing and really wanted to avoid another surgery at al costs. Dr. Kaplan suggested PRP injections into the remaining fibers of my ACL. It worked wonderfully! I had two sessions of injections one was two days post injury and the other was about 4 weeks later. He also prescribed physical therapy to strengthen all the muscles around the knee. I am now nearly 4 months post injury with no buckling or instability. I am so grateful for this innovative and knowledgeable Doctor. I will absolutely continue under his care if life happens to bring any more challenges.

Dr. Kaplan has helped me with a variety of issues and has always been impressive and results-oriented. Very impressed with him and his team.

Through 40+ years of high level soccer and hockey in WNY my body has taken quite a beating. Those years of wear and tear had forced me to the sidelines, permanently. It was depressing. The thought of becoming forever sedentary was a tough pill to swallow. A good friend of mine Bob Bateson, referred me to Dr Kaplan and after a thorough evaluation, Dr Kaplan determined that I had a degenerative knee and recommended a procedure called PRP be performed to help re-stabilize the knee. Dr Kaplan perform this procedure and after a few weeks, I returned to playing soccer again..... without pain! As the expression goes, "gravity always wins" but Dr K has helped me become a "time fighter". Finally, Dr Kaplan is informative, caring and skilled. I would recommend him to any athlete, especially athletes in the twilite of their competitive years. Thank You Doc.

Dr. Kaplan has spent more time with me than most of the specialists I've seen for my spine combined. He is very experienced and takes a holistic approach to health. I appreciate his willingness to listen and explain. I see him at his medical spa in Buffalo where all the staff are very kind and caring. I just wish other physicians could watch him work and see what a difference he makes. I have had issues with my spine since childhood and he's the only one who has significantly improved my mobility. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is suffering pain. He understands and so far has completely resolved a pinched nerve that several others could not treat. His methods are cutting edge and the results are much better than most. The medical spa is a great place!

My review is "not" for Dr Kaplan but rather his associate, P.A. Carrie Fox. I recently went through a series of neck injections that were supposed to alleviate my headaches and neck pain suffered when I fell which resulted in a skull fracture. That being said, I went for a follow up after the injections as I suffered a severe flare up in my symptoms from the procedure. When asked how I felt I described my pain and symptoms and how I felt that I reverted back to day one of the injury. Instead of listening as a good healthcare provider should, Carrie went on to say that the injections were not the cause of the severe flare up. She was callous and argumentative. Her bedside manner was incredibly poor. I noted that I received a handout from the nurse after my injections which clearly stated that I may experience a "flare up" of my symptoms and to contact the doctor's office if they persist for more than 3 days. I did exactly that and received the worst treatment a patient should… experience, an uncaring healthcare professional ( I use that word loosely). After my visit I informed Carrie that I would not be following up with her in 6 weeks as she wanted. I also informed her that she had a poor bedside manner and I did not care for it. I left the office and sat in my car and received a call from her 5 minutes after I left her office. She stated that she talked with Dr. Kaplan and that they were informing me that they cannot do anything more for me and severed our Dr./patient relationship 10 minutes after I told her she was a poor healthcare worker. I find that very strange. In conclusion I am extremely unsatisfied with my treatment and lack of professionalism on Carrie Fox's part. I would not recommend attending any appointments with tis particular office if you are to see Carrie Fox as a healthcare provider. On another note, Dr. Kaplan was professional and very thorough when examining me and administering my injections. I "would" recommend him.

Dr Kaplan listens to my medical complaints and is currently working with me to alleviate my painful issues. I am happy to say he has NOT tried to placate me with drugs. He is locating the problem area and using his skills to alleviate the pain without masking it with drugs. I thoroughly enjoy my visits and feel he is listening and sympathetic to my problems. All of the staff at Dr Kaplan's office are very pleasant. I urge others to give Dr Kaplan a call.
