Dr. Leonard Shapiro, MD

I took my infant daughter to Dr. Shapiro because of severe eczema at the referral of her pediatrician. His office seemed nice and the staff were fairly courteous. Upon meeting Dr. Shapiro I was immediately turned off by his scowl and complete lack of concern for my child. He sat my daughter and myself in his office and ran through questions with me from a sheet of paper and took notes, never making eye contact or looking at my daughter to assess her condition. We were scheduled to return a few weeks later to do allergy testing and bloodwork, although I was hesitant to return because of his bedside manner, I kept my scheduled appointment and brought my husband with me this time. Dr. Shapiro spoke only to my husband and was very kind to him, a complete turn around from our previous appointment, but he refused to speak to me. He called me several days later with blood test results and was again short and rude to me. We made another appointment for one month out to double check some of my… daughters bloodwork, but when the date got closer we did not have the funds to travel over an hour away to Reno. We called 2 days prior to our appointment and cancelled, making sure to let the office know we would be rescheduling, that we could not make the trip as scheduled. The same day, dr. Shapiro wrote a nasty letter to our pediatrician stating that I was "not keeping appointments" that he "did not know if 'the mother' would follow his instructions for care" and that he was turning it over to the pedi to "deal with". I received a copy of this letter from dr. Shapiros office 2 weeks after it was written after I had already set a new appointment and had the bloodwork repeated as he instructed. I will NEVER take my child to him again, and I urge you to think twice before doing so as well. He is a rude, cold, chauevantistic pig.
