I took my daughter for wisdom teeth extraction. At consult, Dr. couldn't have been nicer, however, day of surgery we got to see his true colors. I think he had too many things going on that morning because he was in & out of the room . He did not give enough local anesthetic to provide adequate anesthesia (numbness) in area he was working on, causing her to feel extreme discomfort. He became frustrated with her because she was crying & telling him repeatedly that she felt him cutting & "it hurts". Her mask administering Nitrous needed readjustment & he impatiently shifted it to where it needed to be. The hygienist couldn't have been nicer or more reassuring. In a moment of frustration, he exclaimed he "could not do this now & it would have to be done in the hospital." He sent her home with an open cut in her mouth, canceled her pain med, which had already been faxed to pharmacy & reassured me "not to worry. Insurance would cover this." Oh, I'm not worried at all. I would not bring… her back to see him at his office, hospital or whatever. Much of the success of this procedure depends upon the comfort of the patient. If your patient is complaining of pain, any dentist I've ever been to would administer more local. In this case, I told the dentist that she often needed several injections because it took awhile for her to become numb. Total disregard. He was in too much of a hurry & then got mad at her because she was hindering him from getting the job done. Well, do it right the first time & maybe it would have been successful ! Of course it's a weekend & she has been running a fever, most probably an infection & a whole lot of pain. *** I have got to say that the office staff and hygienist were Great ! Thank you for being kind & understanding.***
