Dr. Leonard Jay Weiss, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Weiss as a therapist and a psychiatrist. He listened to me with both empathy and patience. I found him to be very easy to talk to and appreciated his honest and direct approach to help me gain insight. When I walked into his office I instantly felt a sense of calmness. It looked more like a living room than a typical office. He has many years of experience and understanding of tools and treatment. He even recommended books and website material if he felt it could be useful support. I would also add that Dr. Weiss’ office manager was both sincere and helpful

I was deferred by the FAA and they had requested a psychological evaluation. I called Dr. Weiss office and I was told he would call me back later in the evening. I was impressed because I don’t know any Psychologist that calls you back personally to see if he they can help you, except Dr. Weiss. He called me back and our first phone call was about 30 to 45 minutes. He listened to me from the beginning to the end. That was enough for me to realize he truly cares about his patients and his future patients. It was a no brainer to stop shopping around for a psychologist and I drove out of my way from San Antonio to Austin to see Dr. Weiss. In the end it was all worth it. He looked over my military and va medical records which was a total of about 400 pages. He was very organized and had my records already printed and organized into a binder waiting for review. He looked at every detail and noted every page for his personal report to the FAA. I presented my story to Dr. Weiss and during the… grim details he shared his empathy. While it was a long night Dr. Weiss allowed me to bring my own snacks and water. Dr. Weiss made time to visit with me on the weekend as it was my only day off. Dr. Weiss was attentive the entire time listening and working on my report to the FAA. Dr. Weiss was upfront about his pricing, and he was cheaper than all other Psychologist in the area. All the other Psychologist were asking for more money and more complex procedures that needed to done. Dr. Weiss was able to do it with a single phone call and a single visit. He successfully helped me prove my innocence to FAA and resulted in me obtaining a Special 1st Class Medical Certificate. Dr. Weiss goes above and beyond for his patients. I am forever grateful to Dr. Weiss and his services provided. Thanks to Dr. Weiss, my pilot career is no longer on hold. Thank you for everything Dr. Weiss.

Thankful I found Dr. Weiss. He is an attentive listener, truly seeking to understand what you're experiencing in order to provide potential diagnoses and solutions. This was the first time I felt I had received a proper evaluation and medication plan. Dr. Weiss is very thorough, informative, and knowledgeable- I'm so relieved to have found him. I highly recommend seeking his care.

Dr. Weiss isn't just a great psychiatrist for therapy. He's also a smart and highly experienced doctor. He helped me get through my issues in the context of my overall health. I highly recommend him

I've known Dr. Weiss for well over 4 years now. He's proved to be an outstanding clinician both from a psychiatric as well as medical perspective. He has on numerous occasions pinpointed my symptoms with great accuracy. For instance, once I awoke with a severe neck pain that radiated down my arm and I could hardly play tennis (I teach as a pro-part-time). He understood the mind/ body connection and was able to make me understand that the temporary stress I was under had contributed to this. He also told me not to obsess on this injury and when I stopped focusing on it, it went away!

The more I learn about Dr. Weiss, the more I can recommend him.

This was the first and probably only time I will see Dr Weiss. Have hx of depression, anxiety 30+ yr. Usually every 8-10 yr I need a medication change. Med change was never mentioned, but much emohasis was put on the vicodin I take I take it for multiple problems because cannot take any anti-inflamatory(had bariatric and am not allowed) Dr weiss said I dont care what kind of paper they gave yoy telling you what you can't take and then asked why I did take Celebrix Did the man listen to me at all. I was alsointerrupted before I could even finish a sentence. He then called my FMP on speakerphone and spoke in a less than pleasant manner. Happened to see FMP next day. I apologized for what felt embarassing to me and he said," no I sorry that I find advocate for you but I was just so stunned and confused by the whole conversation". Yeah, that's how I felt about the whole visit.office manager apologized to me, daid " give it a chance, a lot of people feel the same way but after he warms… up to you it's better" I asked how many don't return at all but didn't get an answer. Left feelinf worse than when I went in.

Very smart and we'll educated psychiatrist that knows how the brain works and every aspect of mental illness. He has helped me tremendously! Wonderful staff also!

Dr. Weiss ate through a 15 minute evaluation and didn't know my Son's name as he multi-tasked at the end of his appointment with his Support Staff. I'm not sure how an off-putting demeanor, cursory evaluation and seeming lack of empathy serve the mental health industry. I know people are busy and I know what it feels like to serve the same issues over and over in my own profession - it doesn't excuse apathy. In seeking help for my Son I am astounded at the Paradox in seeking mental health care in general (my first time trying); you have to be the most zealous and passionate of people to even secure an appointment in a reasonable timeframe and when you get there it feels cold and miserable. Never written a review but have no other outlet - no email addresses, phone goes to voice mail and no other contact vehicle on your website.
