Dr. Lesley Mcmurry Plotke, MD

This review is about the worst experience of my life with a physician – by far – and I’m 73, so that’s among a lot of different doctors. This group includes two female primary care clinicians for several years each. I’ve never had anyone else act like Dr. Plotke. Kindly note that if you see nothing wrong with a male doctor giving a woman a gynecology exam with another man right there watching every detail, totally unconsented with both men never having met the patient before, don’t bother to read the rest of this. The start of my experience was basically parallel to this, so I don’t want to waste your time. It took me a long time to face up to the overwhelming evidence, as I looked for explanations for what happened, particularly since I try to look for the best from clinicians – they have a challenging profession. But the totality of the evidence and its many details point to the same conclusion – deliberate mistreatment. The scope of evidence is very broad, including the AMA code… of ethics, medical literature on the examination I had, common sense of appropriate conduct, deliberate disregard of easy steps to avoid the situation, and comments Dr. Plotke made when I went to see her and have a discussion about her actions. After meeting her, rather than propose any resolution, she sent a dismissal letter that tripled down on the disrespect of her exam procedures and actions, and refused to see me as a patient. I do think Dr. Plotke’s medical science skills are good. She seems meticulous and focused. I’d say top 25% or better. Could be an excellent doctor if she wanted to be. Yet there are reasons she seems to be one of the very lowest rated dermatologists in the area. She is even more skilled in destroying trust. Indeed, her actions and decisions seemed designed to pulverize my initial trust and goodwill into microscopic dust. If your idea of good medical care is a visit with a skillful veterinarian, by all means make an appointment. You will be treated like a donkey or billy goat on a farm – no voice, modesty, or feelings. If you want to be treated with respect as a person, stay far away from this travesty of a physician. I’ve been in medicine throughout my career, on the supplier and innovator side in a wide variety of fields and roles. I’ll have more to say once I’m retired, and at that time will be able to write and speak about this experience freely and in more detail.
