Dr. Leslie Alison Mark, MD

I went to Dr. Mark because I had a non-infected boil that was created from an inflamed hair follicle or sebaceous gland. I know this because I know my body and its physiology better than a stranger. Just because someone is a doctor does not mean they know more about your body than you do. I knew this began as an inflamed follicle or gland because it has happened to me many times after shaving. This particular time I shaved and it was a hot night and I woke up sweating. The next day I had a little bump that felt like an ingrown hair, it was in an area I could not see so I had my husband take a look, he said there was no head yet so we left it be. Months later a head still never formed and the area got swollen and tender and eventually it felt like their was a cyst formed around the follicle or sweat gland. I tried everything to try to draw it to the service and eventually a drainage opened and drained out only blood and no pus. So I knew it wasn't infected. I had an incision and… drainage done at another office and unfortunately the incision area never healed and the lump never went away. But from time to time it would swell and then drain. This is how a cyst acts. I found Dr. Mark online with very positive reviews and was hoping she could help me with this abscess and inflamed follicle. Instead she spent maybe all of 5 minutes with me and most of the time was spent with her back turned to me and writing notes on her clipboard. She said she thought it was a sinus tract, which it was not! It was just an abscess pocket that was not healing and continually filling up because my skin was trying to close over it and heal the incision yet the abscess pocket was not completely dried out yet. I suggested that the lumpy hard area could be a fragment of hair stuck under the skin and the body created a cysts around it to protect my body from any foreign invaders. She immediately shot me down and said it wasn't a cyst. Like as if 5 min of time spent and apparently she has x-ray vision is enough to say, it's not a cyst very sternly. I told her I have had some stubborn ingrown hairs that created lumps under my skin which I then had to dig out not only the hair but the cyst as well. She than proceeded to tell me that I would be a good candidate for laser hair removal. I told her that I did not want to do that because I did not trust the longer term effects of altering the follicle to not grow hair. She didn't even hear a word I said and turned around and said, yeah laser hair removal is great, all you need to do is get it done once, then maybe two or three years you get it done again, it's great! What a lousy doctor, I was thinking is she listening to anything I have to say? I am younger and permanently disabled and she wanted to somehow connect my disability with this lump and incision that would not heal. When they are independent of the other. Would you believe that this Dr. Leslie Mark looked at my paperwork and saw that I was young and permanently disabled and she stated: "So you are __ years old and disabled, you poor thing". You can't make this stuff up, you poor thing!!! First off I'm not poor and I'm not a thing! I'm a human being. And I know more about biochemistry and my own body than this stupid doctor who tried to scare me by misdiagnosis, after only 5 min total office visit, of something way more serious and complicated than what I have. She referred me to some general surgeon and when I made an appt, it was almost two months wait to get an appointment. Two weeks went by and I decided that her diagnosis was way way off and a surgeon was not the appropriate referral. I needed to be referred to a woundcare specialist and not a surgeon. I cancelled the appt with this surgeon and the day after I cancels it, I got a call from Dr. Mark saying how she heard I canceled my appt and wanted to know what I was going to do instead. She is not my primary care physician and she barely cared for the 5 min. she was in my presence. But as soon as I canceled her referral, which she absolutely gets a kick back for (if they tell you she doesn't, they are lying directly to your face), she kept calling as if she cared and was hoping to convince me to keep my appt. with the surgeon. She called 5 times, finally I had to call back and leave a message asking her to stop calling me as she said some inappropriate things during our visit and made me feel awful and less than human and was very arrogant and did not listen or work with me. Then I received the bill for what insurance doesn't cover and asked if she could work with me to accept half because I felt that when I pay for something I should get something out of it, but instead I got nothing out of it, she only did 5 min worth of work, which was insulting me, acting arrogant and scaring me with something way more complicated than what I have. She felt she was deserved the money and refused to work with me. I paid it so I wouldn't get any credit issues, but must be nice to not do a single thing, instead insult your patient for 5 min and make them feel awful and than collect $120 for absolutely nothing. Of course I am now at a wound care clinic, where they did not mention anything about tunneling or sinus tract and agreed that there is a possibility that a hair fragment could be stuck under the skin or in the follicle creating the inflammation and draining. They didn't seem to think it was anything for surgery and I am on my way to healing. My visit to Dr. Mark was useless and psychologically damaging. This woman should not be allowed to do anything other than see patients who need pimples popped. Anything more complicated and she reads like a text book acting like she knows what's going on when she doesn't have a clue and should just say, I'm not sure what's going on, instead of saying some text book term and scaring the heck out of you. And making you feel less than human.

Dr Mark was the doctor on call over he weekend. I had a strange rash on my face and left a message for someone to call. Not only did she call me back in a short time she said it would be best if I came in right away and she would meet me at the office, her concern was that the strange rash could be facial Shingles.Dr. Mark came in on her day off, checked out the rash and determined it was Shingles,wrote out a precription and said to take it immediatly.Only later did I realize how dangerous facial Shingles could be. It was very close to my eye and can quickly cause blindness. taking the medication right away helped cure it up with the least amount of pain and zero scaring. What a GEM. what being a doctor should be about I would give her 5 more stars a perfect ten because that is what she is.NMB
