Dr. Leticia Marie Overholt, MD

My ER experience has stuck in my head for 6 years and replayed over and over. I was never confident or comfortable enough to speak on it until now that Im seeing POC experiences finally being heard. In 2014 I entered the ER in agony and pain and when I was seen by Dr.Overholt she made it as if I had made up what was going on. She is rude and vile and does not want to be bothered. As black woman we are often seen as liars by health professionals. Dr.Overholt would not listen to me and often spoke over me, made comments like "well thats not possible." Belittled me and it wasn't until I left and went to another hospital that I received the care I needed. I saw she had a lawsuit almost identical to my same experience. Someone does not need to outright tell you that they are racist for you to feel it and recognize it. This is a horrible woman to treat any emergency.

I had taken my son in to the emergency room with a broken leg and was seen by Dr. Overholt. I thought her professionalism and care were exceptional. I recently went back with a cut that needed to be stitched and was shocked to find that Dr. Overholt was no longer at Penrose. What a loss! I learned that she retired and can't believe that the hospital let her.

I was seen in the emergency room by Dr. Overholt. I have a life-long history of vascular malformations in one leg and was experiencing extreme pain and swelling. Dr. Overholt loudly demeaned me for being on an Indigent Medical Program and told me there is nothing wrong with me other than swelling (while roughly grabbing my very swollen and painful foot). Other patients offered to find a supervisor and offered their contact information as witnesses to this aberrant behavior. I was later diagnosed with femoral-ilium vein blockage in the pelvis.
