Dr. Letitia Plummer
Is dedicated to making her patients feel special, saying "Everyone is entitled to a beautiful smile."
“I always thought that if I could make someone smile with confidence I could change their lives” says Dr. Letitia Plummer. Plummer has a few reasons to smile herself. She’s under the age of 40, with a family, a successful dental practice and even runs a non-profit organization. Since childhood Plummer seemed predestined to wear medical supply couture for a living. “My dad is a dentist and I worked with him since I was 12.”
After graduating from Spelman College in 1992 her dental career took a brief detour.
“I wanted to have some hands-on experience in management and staffing. You don’t [get] that kind of experience in dental school. I started a company called Safe Hands. We sold latex gloves.”
From there Plummer enrolled at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. After graduating in 1999 she started her own practice. “I’ve been a dentist …for six years” she states proudly. “We do dentistry but create the ambience of a spa. We include mini facials, aromatherapy and head and neck massage.”
Plummer’s success hasn’t insulated her from giving back to her community. “My non- profit organization is called Career Smiles. I deal with other non-profits that have clients that have cosmetic dental issues” which is paid for by funding and sponsorship.
Plummer has done extensive training in cosmetic dentistry through
continuing education and is certified with Invisalign, in addition to pursuing
a fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. "I
honestly love creating beautiful smiles," she says. "A smile truly exudes
confidence."
Plummer is a member of the American Dental Association, the
Texas Association of Women Dentists, the Greater Houston Dental
Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists and the Dental
Health Task Force. She serves on the advisory board for the Texas School
of Business and the National Institute of Technology where she serves as
a consultant and instructor for their dental program.
Looking towards the future Dr. Plummer is planning to expand her facilities, creating the ultimate Dental Spa practice with a resort type atmosphere.
