Dr. Levi Singleton Kirkland JR., MD

This doctor was supposed to provide a surgical consult for my loved one. He called and spoke to me, but he did not consult about surgery. He questioned me over and over about who was going to be making the decision regarding surgery and where would my loved one go after his surgery. We never even got down to what surgical options there were. My loved one had just signed off to appoint me his medical power of attorney that day, so I was emotional and unsure of when that POA would kick in. I explained to the doctor that my friend had been cognitively disabled all his life, and that I was helping him make decisions. Dr. Kirkland then replied, "What, is he retarded?" I repeated that my friend had lifelong cognitive disabilities to which the doctor said, "Oh, is that what they call it now?" He then asked to speak to the nurse. I never did get a surgical consult from him, and thankfully, my loved one was transferred to another hospital, and we didn't have to deal with the jerk again.

I wouldn't even return for a follow-up. I was very unhappy with his poor bedside manner. He is the only doctor I have ever been to that I have disliked.

After 2 previous hernia repairs by 2 different doctors, I went to Dr. Kirkland. He knew what he was talking about. He looked at my previous records, took the time to explain everything and did the hernia repair as open incision instead of laporscoptically. My recovery was much faster. It's been 9 weeks and I am doing fine. My recovery was so much quicker. With my previous surgeries, I was very uncomfortable and had much more pain. I would recommend him for any hernia problems.

Dr. Kirkland was extremely friendly and professional. He performed my hernia surgery without a patch and it was wonderful compared to the last hernia surgery I had with the patch from a different doctor. I have been to 4 hernia doctors over the last 5 years and Dr. Kirkland was by FAR the BEST. Highly recommend using his services.

I became very ill at work and was taken to the hospital where Dr. Kirkland was assigned to me. Surgery normally would take about 1 1/2 hours but due to the very bad condition of my gallbladder, he took his time and did it laproscopically which really helped my recovery. He made me and my husband feel comfortable and was very professional.

This doctor was unprofessional with a horrible bedside manner. He had my wife hold body part whole he performed the procedure. He tried to make me feel inferior.
