Dr. Lewis Hanan

Dr. Lewis Hanan is the founding partner of Sarasota Periodontal Associates. He has a B.A. from the University of Alabama and his dental degree, D.M.D., from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, which is considered one of the top dental schools in the country.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force as a dental officer, Dr. Hanan returned for his specialty training on an academic scholarship to the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He served as chief resident during the entire specialty training and published several articles in the dental literature. As a result of his outstanding achievement, at the completion of his training he was asked to become permanent faculty member.
Dr. Hanan moved to Sarasota with his wife and four children and soon became involved in the community. He has served on various boards of directors as well as in executive capacities. He also served in the Sarasota County Dental Association in various capacities as well as its president.
Dr. Hanan …was a pioneer on the west coast of Florida in periodontal laser surgery. He focuses his practice on periodontal microsurgery, laser assisted periodontal surgery, all types of regenerative procedures to include soft and hard tissue grafting and supplementation. He has had advanced special training in periodontal plastic surgical procedures. He practices pain control dentistry and has years of advanced training in intravenous sedation techniques to provide comfort to the most apprehensive patients.
Dr. Hanan has led various study clubs and lectured to various dental groups and at the same time maintained the highest level and standard of care by continuing his own educational pursuits in advanced periodontal therapy.
He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontics, American Dental Association, The Florida Society of Periodontology, The Florida Society of Anesthesia, and the Sarasota County Dental Association.
