I love Dr Somen she's an amazing woman, an amazing psychiatrist

rude, careless, condescending, money-hungry, and above all lacking the skill, expertise and knowledge required in the pharmacological field. pretty much what everyone else has been saying. by far the worst doctor ive ever had.

I am writing this for my father who was unfortunately placed in the care of Dr. Somen. My dad became severely depressed after my mom passed away and he was in a somewhat of a catatonic state. We took him to western psych where he had a lengthily stay and had some improvement. This is when he was referred to Dr. Somen at his time of discharge. The visits with her consisted of only one initial in person visit and the rest were phone calls not even any video. When Dr. Somen would call my dad the only question she would ask him is how are you doing! My dad would always say fine so she would say ok keep taking your meds and I'll see you in a month. Ok well my dad does not tell the truth about his condition because he has a mental illness. What idiotic doctor does not get that you have to actually assess your patient's to see if they are progressing or getting worse you have to either bring them in to the office, do a video visit, or at least ask them more questions. After a couple of these… phone calls Dr. Somen took it upon herself to decrease my dad's medications because she thinks their too strong. What in the world did she base this decision on! So my dad decreased his meds which in turn caused him to eventually regress and stop taking his meds at together. I called the office very concerned expressing that my dad's well being is not good he's not eating, drinking, taking his meds, not doing any personal hygiene, he's very weak, unsteady, and he's very thin. I told them I am concerned about his health and safety. I requested he be seen in person ASAP. After waiting two weeks for this emergency appointment Dr. Somen had the nerve to call my dad on the phone disregard my concerns and request, tell my dad she's doing a phone visit, and that he should not come into the office. I could not believe it I was so upset I still drove to the office since I was coming all the way from Pittsburgh and mind you my brother missed a day of work because we were going to accompany him to this appointment. She obviously has no regard for her patient's or their families. When I arrived I was able to speak with her she was very arrogant and argumentative. She could not give me any good reason why she called my dad instead of having him come into the office. She said that is how it is and I have no control over it. Umm I thought that was the doctors discretion? I asked if she got my message about the serious concerns I was having. She stated I do not read messages. Umm again isn't that the doctors job to read messages about their patient's to know what's going on with them? She then later stated how am I supposed to know what's going on with your father if no body is telling me. LOL AGAIN read your messages lady!!! When I told her about his weight loss she started to blame me and my brother and said oh maybe he has cancer why have you taken him to his primary care doctor. What doesn't she NOT understand he is not eating ANYTHING because of his mental health which she is failing to properly treat!! Please do not go to this doctor. I am not sure how she is even in practice and still has a license after so many people have experienced something similar to what we have.

She was pretentious & put me down. Then she arrogantly pointed to all the books she had read in her office and stated that there was no way SLE could be contributing to my problem. Copious amounts of information is out that lupus, indeed, can cause these issues! I think some places make a lot off of the sufferings of others & treat those who suffer as if they are outcasts & their rights or existence matters not. Just a bunch of red flags went off for me here as well as being offended by how behind they run there. U can't be late, but they sure can! Not a good fit for me.

She dismissed my diagnosises with in one minute of speaking to me. She is also very incompetent. She did not know the generic name of a common antidepressant I am on. I had to show on my phone what this med was. She also decided to double my dose, this was an error in on her part. Also I have never been treated so rudely by any physician in my entire life.

Dr Soman is very understanding and will listen to what your problems are. I went in a very depressed person and less than two months later I felt like my normal self. What a relief.

I went to see Dr. Somen one time and she was very condescending and rude!!! She wrote my prescription wrong 3 times! Then she discharged me from her practice because me and the pharmacists at Rite- Aid called her on her mistake! This lady is down right terrible and she have her license stripped away! I spoke to multiple people about her and they all have terrible things to say about this lady!

I felt like a berated child. I've suffered depression on and off all my life and eventually it worsened so that I attempted suicide. Her off-handed, rude criticisms and blatant disregard for me as a human being could have sent me off the deep end once and for all.

I do not even understand how someone so uncaring and rude can be in this field of work. She does not listen to a thing anyone says, prescribes medicine without first getting baseline testing done, increases medication without any testing. If you bring to her attention how your feel on the medication she will literally say" don't take it then", if you're a past drug user ( it has been 15 years ago for me ) she will never let you live it down. To top off things, the place is dirty all the time and they have a cat that roams around the place, I am allergic to cats! Go somewhere that actually cares!
