Dr. Lia Simpson Erickson

When I was a child, I loved science, and because of that, I thought I was destined to be a veterinarian. But in college, I realized I was more passionate about using my science background to care for people rather than animals, and after graduation, I chose to go to medical school. During my studies, I wasn't sure what specialty was meant for me. Once I learned more about pediatrics, I knew I had found my calling. \n In pediatrics, I am passionate about preventive care, allowing me to address health problems before they start and help children stay healthy through their youth and into adulthood. I love working with families, meeting them where they are and developing plans together to help children grow and flourish to reach their full potential. \n In my career, I have received the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Founder's Society Distinguished Physician Award and was part of the inaugural class of LIFT, Leveraging Internal Female Talent. \n In my free time, I love spending time …with my husband and two children, particularly doing outdoor activities like hiking, running, biking and traveling. My daughter and I also enjoy riding horses together.
