Dr. Lia Rothbaum Kettenis, MD

I unfortunately had her as a doctor from the age of about 8 to 16, she prescribed over 20 different types of medications during those years, 2 of which caused me to have seizures. I would start on something and come see her after a month and she would ask how I felt. Usually not too much would have changed by then so that is what I would say as a lot of the medication i was prescribed takes 2-3 months to have the side affects go away and have the upside of taking the medication to kick in. Instead she would change me to a different medication or up my dose. She said she would be willing to treat me up to the age of 21 one but after prescribing me Geodon and feeling like there were bugs crawling under my skin I finally switched to a new doctor. I wish I had switched much sooner. If you know how bad Geodon is you would understand why I felt as though she was intentionally trying to abuse me through the use of line of work. Don't go to her. She will destroy your kids childhood and… possibly their trust in doctors forever.

Dr. Kettenis is extremely knowledgeable about medications, recent studies, insurance issues regarding off label use of specific medications and generally what will work and what won't. We have used her for about 5 years now for 2 of our children and we trust her implicitly. Time and again she has proved herself beyond helpful and a downright lifesaver. She makes time during emergencies and she doesn't overschedule when it is not necessary. We are so very grateful to have been able to avail ourselves of her services. We can't recommend her highly enough.

She has misdiagnosed my child and those of people I know. She was constantly changing my daughters medications without any cause and it had such negative effects that we decided to go elsewhere. Not a very good listener, but loves the sound of her own voice.
