Dr. Lief Sorensen, MD

Pain level 9/10 would not treat with any meds. Only scheduled expensive neck injection days later. What is going on? I've never done anything inappropriate with my meds and he just said no. Who do you see if not pain mgmt. I understand they need to cya but my Mri's show legit disc problems. I'm perplexed

My first visit with Sorenson seemed promising, I thought I was on my way to recovery. Not true. He will just ignore you until you fade away. Will NOT authorize prescription minor non-narcotic refills. Staff was awful, NEVER returns calls. I never got anywhere. I am now being treated fairly well. He chooses who he wants to treat and who he will treat like garbage. If you don't jump at the chance to get spine injections, he throws in the towel & disregards the opinions/diagnosis of colleagues.

Dr Sorensen got straight to the point and had my pain under control the day after my first visit. 7 years of progressing pain and nobody offered the techniques Dr Sorensen offered immediately. He listened and involved me in every step taken and has never let me down. I trust him as much as he trusts me.

OK I misplaced my meds -never do that - sign that you are abusing medication. So he got on my case and rightfully so even though I really did misplace them and found them later. We talked and he listened and cared about my feelings. Because of a previous bad experience with spinal shots (elsewhere) I was very frightened. He got me through the procedure and today I don't need sedation for them.

I had been seeing Dr. Sorenson for a year or so. Thought he was ok. Went in for a routine visit in order to get my pain cream refilled. I waited one hour and 45 minutes! He finally came in to the exam room and basically yelled at me for going to the ER three months earlier with severe back pain. He accused me of drug seeking and said there was nothing wrong with my thoracic region. He told me he was sure I wouldn't have another episode even though I had three in the previous four months. I've had three more since. His staff doesn't seem to know what's going on either. His receptionist scheduled a 15 minute appointment for dry needling. I cancelled it because I knew 15 minutes wasn't enough and I didn't want to wait another hour to see him. He's cold and mean. Go somewhere else where somebody cares. I think that's how it's supposed to be in the medical field?

My initial visit went okay. The doctor seemed to care and together we decided my best course was to start a pool exercise routine. I told him that I wouldn't be able to start until the kids were back in school, 5 weeks later. But he still wanted me to cut the amount of pain meds I was taking in half, from 8 to 4 pills daily. Feeling like he had my best interest in mind, I gave it a go, but a week later I had a really bad bout of pain and went over the 4 a day. Because I now don't have enough pills to last until my refill is available, I called his office. I explained the situation to the nurse. She called back a said that since it had been a month since he saw me, I should be able to refill my prescription. I told her, again, that I hadn't filled his prescription right away but did a week later after using up some pills I had on hand. She said that shouldn't matter. I knew it would but said I'd call the pharmacy anyway. I made sure to ask her if the pharmacy called them, they would… okay the early refill. She said yes. So I called the pharmacy who, of course, told me it was too early and they'd need an okay from the doctor. A couple hours later I called to see if the pills were ready and the pharmacist said the doctor declined the early refill - ?!! I called the doctors, got voicemail and left a message. This was shortly before they closed on a Thursday and knowing the doctor is not in on Fridays I asked that they please call me that day. They didn't. And, although I know the nursing staff works until noon on Friday, it's almost noon and I haven't heard a thing. So I am left without enough pain meds to last the weekend.

From my first contact with this clinic I was treated in a kind, professional, friendly manner. I felt like I was a priority and when I met Dr. Sorensen I felt he took his time and really listened to me.
