Great doctor she likes to get down to the mane issue instead of just prescribing you a RX

I have a high regard for Dr. Wilen. A native of China, she was trained in Chinese medicine before she came to the U.S. and graduated from UCLA medical school. She's big on getting patients like me to change bad lifestyle habits before prescribing medications. She's my HMO internist, but I also go to her for acupuncture, chronic neck pain. I could barely turn my head while driving, to see cars coming from behind, but now I have full movement. The staff is pleasant, kind. Only problem is the tiny waiting room, and wait times.

Doctor Wilen, gives Shinese edicine to patients, I am not sure whether that is a good practice. Also her office charges for office visits and invoice insurance companies if the pharmacy calls in for prescription refills.

Dr Wilen seems knowledgeable & caring; seems very willing to work with her patients to find solutions to their problems. I REALLY LIKE Dr Lilly Wilen.However: Making an appointment is difficult due to office procedures (must call at just the right time). I then have to wait 1/2 to 1+1/2 hrs past appt time to see her. Then each office visit is interrupted several times due to Dr taking calls and answering questions of office staff, often mid-sentence. Maybe this is due to my medical insurance being one of the lowest payers (Blue Cross PPO, costs me about $850 per month for just myself in 2011).

Dr. Wilen was excellent with my mother for her first visit. She speaks Japanese so my mother communicated very well with her whereas we've always had problems with others in the past. Dr. Wilen detected her problems and gave good medication advice. Still waiting for follow up though...

She really listens to my problems and I recommend this doctor to everybody who is looking for a caring doctor.

Be very careful with this doctor. She doesnt know what she is doing and the same goes of her nurses. She has bad ratings every where you look. Its the kind of office who wants their co pay they check your blood pressure and then kick you out.

Not only did I have to wait about an hour and a half after my scheduled time before I could see her, but Dr Wilen spent a total of about 10 minutes with me, during which time she hurriedly brushed off my questions. She did not listen to my health concerns seriously. I asked her for a referral to a specialist and she laughed, saying there was no way that she could do that because "your insurance sucks" (I checked with my insurance later and it does cover visits to specialists.) She sent me to the lab to get some tests about 2 months ago, and never called me to tell me the results. Maybe I caught Dr Wilen on an off day, but nothing excuses that kind of rude and unprofessional behavior.
