Dr. Lina Fine

One of the best physicians I've had. Very caring, listens to me, spends time explaining things to me

Dr. Fine is quite nice and helpful, offers useful insights on sleep apnea and sleep problems. Her nurse practitioner (Sarah James) is also very good. Have to schedule appointments a long time in advance (3-4 months ahead). Staff needs improvement at relaying messages - a few times I left messages with questions for Dr. Fine. Evidently she responded within their system, but nobody called me to let me know the answer.

Was referred to Dr. Fine for severe chronic insomnia, tried multiple treatment options over several years with little to limited success. Was having multiple mini-blackouts daily, which were apparently micro-sleep episodes - embarrassing at work, dangerous when driving. Have since been successfully treated by a different physician.

The choice of seeking medical care should never be determined by a doctors billing system- but in this case and in the case of all mental health care caution should be exercised if you plan to use insurance. I called for an appointment, was told I had to book a sleep study to get an appointment with her- okay book them both for the same day- after seeing her she says I don't need the sleep study - but too late to cancel as I'll be on the hook for the fees- so I do it- they bill the insurance company for apnea - but I don't have any apnea! This doctor- met me once- for an hour (793.00) from that meeting she turned in a "diagnosis" of anxiety- yet never mentioned that to me. I contacted her about this as I am the least anxious person I know... I am trying to get long term health care insurance and this was a red flag for my broker. I again told the doc I disagreed with her and hadn't hired her for a diagnosis but an opinion on the meds I was taking. She became entrenched in… her opinion- didn't understand I was the client who hired her - The sleep study was almost 5K (that's 5,000.00) for one night- Dr Fine was almost 800. for the first hour and 400. for a brief call to tell me what I already knew- I don't have apnea (despite the billing code)- The upshot is I now will pay thousands extra for long term care insurance- Plan to take the situation back to Blue Cross and file complaints. Be careful - her opinion, as any mental health care worker, is subjective and costly in both the long and short term.

If you are looking for a doctor that does not care and makes horrible decisions dr. Lina fine is for you. She is arrogant and does not lesson to you at all. She makes a rash decision and prescribes medication and treatments that do not work. Please save yourself time and energy and see any one but her.

Dismisses one's feelings, stigmatizes, pathologies, criticizes, one-size fits all approach, wasn't interested in searching for or looking at previous sleep studies. Not that you really have a choice, but stay away if you can.
