Dr. Linda Ruth Brown, MD

Dr. Linda Brown of Island Eye Physicians and Surgeons in Anacortes, WA gave me two shots, one in each of my eyes. The shots caused me to see fog by the night of the shots, and caused me to not be able to read or drive within a few weeks. I am now almost totally blind. She did very little to help, even when she was aware that I was having a problem related to the shots she had given me. I am now blind due to Dr. Linda Brown, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND not using Dr. Linda Brown.

My appointment wait time was 11/2 hr, And this was for a 8am appointment!! I finally told them I had to leave. I find it very disrespectful and rude. My time is valuable also.

I keep all my imaging for travel & personal records, be it X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, OCT, ... etc. It all goes on a USB flash drive. Everyone might want to do this. I'd give 4 or 5 rating, except for not willing to provide the patient with their imaging files in a diagnostic digital format (DICOM). They provide printed .jpeg only (non-diagnostic). She is the first ophthalmologist I've encountered of 6 in the last 10 years that won't. Needs to catch-up a bit in this regard, it's easy and matters.

I have had two cataract surgeries performed by Dr Brown and recently had some “floaters” zapped, which really improved my eyesight. Dr Brown is skilled & personable physician. I have not experienced the long wait times other patients have complained about, but I usually schedule early morning appointments. The front office staff are friendly, with one notable exception.... the lone person in the optical department. Whatever this employee’s technical skills, she should not be dealing with the public. Unfortunately, she is seated near the entrance and is the first person you encounter. My husband wanted to leave his glasses to be repaired, but this woman talked over him & was extremely rude. She was not with a client. She should have been polite because: 1) my husband is a patient of Dr Brown; 2) my husband is a physician, himself; and 3) my husband is 90 years old. I am including this only because I saw this employee being rude to another customer on my most recent visit. She appears to… be rigid personality with low tolerance for dealing with unscheduled requests. In sum, Dr Brown is great and you can have your prescription filled elsewhere.

I have no doubt that Dr Brown is a good ophthalmologist. She did two cataract surgeries for me and it turned out to be just fine. My problem is that on three different occasions she kept me waiting for over an hour! I think that is totally out of line and I will not go back to her.

Dr. Brown is skilled but is always rushed. Each time I saw her, I felt like I was an imposition in her very busy schedule. I had some serious complications after a procedure she did on one of my eyes, and I didn't feel that she took my concerns about post-op pain and vision problems seriously until the symptoms became alarming, even to her. I had to see a specialist in Seattle to have my pain and blurred vision addressed. Wait times for scheduled appointments can be two hours, especially toward the end of the day. I have changed to a different opthalmologist.

Wait times are not managed. Skillful doctor, but can't stand the wait times.

It's almost impossible to talk to a receptionist or appointment secretary without being put on hold for a very long time. No special treatment for long-time patients and wait time for an appointment is 4 to 5 months. Not great.
