Dr. Linda Williams, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Williams for about five years now. She always takes the time to address all my concerns, and is more thorough in investigating issues I come in with than any other primary care doctor I've had. Before one of my visits to her a few years back, I had been prescribed an antibiotic at an urgent care. As soon as I started taking it, I started feeling worse. Over the next 48 hours I had worsening symptoms until I finally went to the ER. I told the doctor there I thought it might be the antibiotic because I remembered having a similar reaction to an antibiotic about ten years earlier when I was living in a different state, but I didn't remember the name of that antibiotic. The ER doc said the antibiotic I'm on isn't known for causing my kind of symptoms - -the infection must be spreading and making me feel worse. So she changed me to a different antibiotic. I went to see Dr. Williams a few weeks later and told her the story. She actually took the time to investigate… my records from the incident I had had ten years earlier in a different state and what do you know -- it was the same antibiotic that had put me in the ER this time. She said, let's just add this antibiotic to your medical chart as something you are averse to. Problem solved. This doctor listened to me. The ER doc totally blew me off. I've had similar interactions with her since then. I tell her something's bothering me, and she investigates EVERYTHING. I tell her she gets a pass if she's ever delayed to my appointment because I know it's because she's actually spending quality time with her patients, and I know I'll get the same quality time.

There is a reason Dr. Williams is the only doctor accepting new patients at the Oak Brook location. I would not recommend anyone going to this women for medical advice - she is condescending, even demeaning, I had several medical concerns and I left embarrassed and I tears. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this experience. I have never felt so humiliated. I filed a formal complaint with the medical facility.

My appointment was regarding unpaid leave from work. I had recently experienced two deaths in the same week and was still mourning the loss of my sister, who passed in December 2024. It has been a profoundly difficult time. I took bereavement leave to make arrangements and to care for my mental health. Once my paid leave was exhausted, I opted to request unpaid leave under FMLA. I sent a message through MyChart, and her nurse asked that I bring the necessary documents to my appointment. I followed those instructions. The nurse was kind and informed me that Dr. Williams would be in shortly. However, when Dr. Williams entered the room, she didn’t greet me. She sat down and said, “So what’s going on? I see everything you sent on here,” referencing MyChart. As I began to explain, she interrupted me: “So you need three weeks of leave?” I clarified that I didn’t expect retroactive FMLA and that I may return to work sooner—I just needed some time. She then started asking for the dates I had… been off work, but each time I attempted to answer, she cut me off. She eventually pulled out a separate sheet of paper and went over the same dates again. I was trying to explain: “My mother-in-law died on 4/8/25 and my uncle passed on 4/12/25, so I took my bereavement time after that—” when she interjected, “So you needed two weeks of bereavement?” The tone felt more like an interrogation than a medical consultation, as though I was being questioned for even needing this time. It became clear that Dr. Williams had entered the appointment with her mind already made up. Her tone was cold, and there was no space for empathy or real conversation. When I tried to mention the headaches I had brought up at previous visits—headaches I linked to stress—she responded, “I didn’t know they were that bad.” That response was both confusing and hurtful, especially because I had consistently reported them and mentioned using Tylenol to manage the pain. Feeling repeatedly dismissed and emotionally overwhelmed, I chose to end the appointment early. I asked for my FMLA form and told her I no longer wanted her to complete it. Near tears, I told her, “I really don’t appreciate how you’ve handled this situation,” more than once before I left. Given the rapport I thought we had built over the past year, I did not expect this kind of treatment. I did not expect to feel condescended to or completely unheard. I chose this provider because I wanted my concerns to be taken seriously. On April 28th, that did not happen. I left that appointment feeling small, like a child being scolded despite doing nothing wrong. Even if Dr. Williams couldn’t support my FMLA request, I could have accepted that—but how she handled the appointment was deeply disappointing and hurtful. I would never want another patient to feel the way I felt. She didn’t even offer a greeting. It was clear she had already made up her mind, leaving little room for open dialogue or genuine care. As a result, I’ve made the decision to no longer remain under her care. I believe every patient deserves compassion and empathy—unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

On our first visit to see Dr. Morgan, she did an adequate job with my twochildren's check ups. We didn't think she did a very thorough examination or asked many questions (as compared with previous physicians), and her overall manner was kind of impersonal. She seemed to just go through the motions of a standard check up. On our second visit, we waited for over 80 minutes (though we arrived early) for our appointment. Although the receptionist initially told me that Dr. Morgan was on time in her schedule, after waiting for 45 minutes, we asked how much longer it would be. First, they went and spoke to her and she said it would be 20 more minutes. Then she said it would be two minutes. Then, 20 minutes later, they sent a supervisor out to inform we it would be 20 minutes or more longer, but they weren't exactly sure. Obviously, she was not on time when we first arrived, and probably knew she was behind schedule for several hours before we arrived, without calling to tell us.The… office personnel and Dr. Morgan were being dishonest about the wait, and seemed to not care when I informed them that I would not be seeing that doctor again. Overall, the UIC Family Medicine clinic has the professionalism of a free clinic: they have the attitude that people deserve little or no respect and that our time or schedule is trivial to them. I DO NOT recommend going there for any reason, unless you have no choice. It is pathetic that a university with such an amazing medical education/research reputation has such an abysmal student health facility.
