Dr. Lindsey Ann Babbin, MD

My experience with her was extremely unpleasant. She is rude and unprofessional and I felt belittled the whole time. She blew up on me for no reason and dismissed my lab test request, then billed me for it. Later when she prescribed me something and sent me a message 2 days later saying” never mind I prescribed you the wrong thing”. Do not book with her.

I’ve seen Dr Babbin a few times. Each time she had issues with bedside manner. She avoided eye contact, would stare at my forehead or at wall while she talked. It was uncomfortable talking to her. She did not know ANY of my health history, even though I’d seen her a few times before and she had my electronic file in front of her. She actually asked me to run down my health history over e last 15 years, asking what test I had, when and the results. I answered as best I could but kept telling her I wasn’t sure about dates, etc. She typed this up in her notes. I questioned her on this at telling her the dates I gave her we’re not totally accurate and she said I shouldn’t worry, they were just ‘her notes’. She knew nothing about HMO insurance and said the referral she wrote may or may not go through. (Upon leaving I checked with a nurse and she confirmed what I knew, any referral from my PCP that was in network, at IL Masonic, would go through.) The front of the office was nice. The rest… of it- one room had a sheet/curtain as the door, the ‘lab’ was a table in a big empty room with no privacy and the room I sat in to talk with the Dr had a filthy vent. Full of dust inside. I have like 10% confidence I. This Dr and will not be going back. She did not seem knowledgeable, did not read notes or my history prior to meeting with me, and I actually sat there thinking I knew more then her.. yikes.. since I have no medical training (just common sense).

My experience at Dr. Babbin's office was not good. -Non-private office: The office is in a building that looks like a retail store and is not very private. To do my weight and height, they took me in to what was essentially a break room for staff. -Poor bedside manner: Dr. Babbin walked in to the room and did not even greet me. She started straight in on my symptoms and why I was there to see her. She did not seem to know much about what I was there for, and when she prescribed a medication for me, I tried to ask her questions about the risks, etc and she said "well no other patients have told me of any issues"... Her demeanor is cold and patronizing and she would cut me off if my answer to her question was not efficient enough for her. She talked down to me on the fact that I was on HMO insurance and not a more expensive type like PPO. I told her I'm young and healthy and there is no need for me to have a PPO, which brings me to my next issue- -Problems with referral: I… asked to be referred to see a specialist and she told me "I can try but I can't guarantee it", but it is completely in her power to describe my symptoms accurately enough for a referral to go through. I've never had a problem getting a referral through any other PCPs. I also requested a specific specialist and she acted like it wouldn't work because she'd "never heard of that person" -Poor follow up: While my referral DID end up going through, I had to check the portal to find out. They didn't call me until weeks after my appointment to confirm the referral even though I'd seen it on the portal at least a week before. -Rude staff: When I was leaving, I asked if there was a copay, and one of the receptionists wouldn't look up from her phone but just mumbled "no." and when I said "No?" she rudely yelled "I DON'T KNOW" to which the other receptionist stepped in, apologized, and told me she would help me instead. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Dr. Babbin, and I highly recommend that she re-evaluate her bedside manner with patients.
