Lisa A. Adams

I chose the role of Nurse Practitioner after working in the ICU as a registered nurse for 10 years. Obtaining a Doctorate degree in Advanced Practice Nursing provided me with the opportunity to independently care for patients in the family medicine setting. Caring for patients in family medicine as a Nurse Practitioner grants me the ability to prevent and treat disease. I enjoy caring for patients with a focus on primary prevention (stopping disease before it occurs) and secondary prevention (early detection). My philosophy of care is based on Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring. It is an authentic, holistic, and compassionate approach to caring for all people, grounded in human dignity and respect. My clinical interests include primary and secondary prevention of chronic diseases, as well as the chronic care management of diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and chronic kidney disease. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, working in the garden, taking walks with …our rescue pups, cooking and baking, vacationing with my husband, and reading.
