Dr. Lisa A Carroll, MD

Dr. Carroll took terrific care of me on several visits recently. She is very thorough in her exam and takes to time to explain everything in a way I can understand. And she is very down to earth so I felt comfortable.

I went to Dr. Carroll first back in 2012 and she tested a couple moles that came back with some type of ratings where she said I needed to get them fully removed w/ stitches. I went through that process and thought it was normal. She ended up taking a sabbatical for two years or so and started at Brinton Lake Dermatology. During her time off, I went to another doctor, who is just as good and trusted and did not find one mole to be removed during Dr. Carroll's sabbatical. I should have stayed at the other dermo but ended up going back to see Dr. Carroll when she returned to work (because I liked the office at Brinton Lake and their convenient hours). Of course, as soon as I see her she finds a couple issues and had to get one fully removed w/ stitches...yet again. I also felt the stitches were removed too early and the wound had trouble healing, even though I cleaned and changed the dressings 2 - 3x/day. When I went back for my 6 month she reviewed the results for that former spot… that had healing issues - the assistant said the results all came back clear and normal...which made me think - did I REALLY need to get that one removed after all the trouble it caused for months? I also remembered when I first went back to her at Brinton Lake Dermo office she found a spot on my foot she felt needed to be tested. She never did (since she was scraping out that other one instead), but when I went back for my 6 month she didn't say one word about that spot on my foot. I said - "nothing on my foot?" Nope. Then she asked if I saw any others that looked suspicious and I said - no but it's hard to see what's on my back. What do ya know... she found a spot on my back that needed to be tested. They called me a few days later and say it is "moderate" and needs to be fully removed with stitches (this was a small spot and she said it may be about a 2" scar!). I was really annoyed with that because she even admitted she loves to do the extracting and stitches on people. I actually heard her in the next room while waiting for her at one appt tell someone he needed to get the full extraction too w/ stitches. I am SO glad I questioned all of this and ended up going back to my previous dermo I saw during Dr. Carroll's sabbatical and got a second opinion. Got the spot re-scraped and tested and everything came back completely normal!! I used to think so highly of Dr. Carroll, especially with her dedication and educational background, but my opinion has completely changed. It's sad really... there are probably many people getting things fully removed with stitches that are perfectly normal. My dermo told me doctor's nowadays have found after research that "moderate" results aren't as worrisome but are good to get scraped again, and typically come back normal. Just be careful and think about getting a second opinion if you're getting too many things stitched up!

Dr. Carroll is professional, intelligent, kind, caring, empathic, thorough and patient. She listened to all my concerns and addressed each one in a caring manner. She is the third dermatologist I've seen in the past year and BY FAR the best. She was able to do what all others failed to do. Thanks to her I have my looks, health and confidence back! I HIGHLY recommend her!

Great bedside manner, excellent diagnosis and treatment, seems to really care, great pedigree. I'll stick with her forever!
