Dr. Lisa Martine Chaiken

Very caring, attentive and compassionate. I love her and her staff. Treated me with radiation for breast cancer and I cant say enough good things about this team!

Staff was very kind - they all took their time to speak with me and answer questions. Dr. Chaiken has amazing qualifications - she put me at ease, and provided as much information as possible - I felt 100% better just speaking with her.

After serving two wars, returned home to get ready for my third deployment, however I was diagnosed with a breast cancer. Dr. Lisa Chaiken made my life easier by educating me about this illness, listened to me well, and transmitted me confidence in a friendly and professional manner. She is not only brilliant but really kind. She is very professional, courteous, quick and knows well her stuff. I want to thank her and thank her entire staff at the St. John Hospital, Ms. Vicki, Ms. Kim, Mr. John and Mr. James. Thank you all so much for making my life easier.

Dr. Chaiken met with me upon diagnosis. She followed my care with my surgeon and oncologist, and long before I was due to see her, surprised me by phoning me to check in on my progress on the eve of my surgery. She helped me articulate questions about my ongoing care to ask of my other specialists. She welcomes fellows from related disciplines into her practice, so that I saw the surgical fellow in her office, whom I had met at my surgery, and we were able to discuss a matter that would have ordinarily taken a separate call to the surgeon. She speaks daily with my surgeon and oncologist on all shared patients. I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes for this exceptional care.

My only complaint is that I had to wait at least 50 mins to an hour everytime I had to see Dr. Chaiken; she is ALWAYS running late. Also, when making an appointment for a specific time, the front office person would say "I can put you in for that time but she won't be avail." Then why would they schedule me for an appointment for a time when she is not available?

I saw Dr.Chaiken for my recently diagnosed prostate cancer. She made me wait for about 35 minutes. When I finally saw her, her recommendations contradicted what I had read about the disease. Furthermore, she did not appear to have reviewed my records ahead of time and did not wash her hands before examining me! I won't go back, St Johns or not!

Dr. Chaiken was superb at helping me with my treatment decisions and plan for my cancer just recently diagnosed. She spent so much time with me explaining in detail all aspects of my case and answering all my questions. I wouldn't go to anyone else. I can't recommend her highly enough. We need more doctors like her.

Dr. Chaiken was exceptional in diagnosing my cancer and helping me choose the best integrated therapy. She is knowledgeable,kind and thorough and spent close to two hours with me to decide on my treatment. I highly recommend her.

I have just completed 35 radiation visits at St. John's. Dr. Chaiken was available to me and met with me several times throughout the radiation process. She was knowledgeable, sympathetic, kind and always made me feel that I had the best care available. She was willing to go to extraordinary lengths to safeguard her client's serious co-existing conditions throughout the radiation process. I deeply appreciated her forbearance and the concern she demonstrated in caring for me.

I went to see Dr Chaiken on the recommendation from my oncologist. I was not happy with her. She was unable to answer a lot of my questions and I left my appointment with an empty feeling. I hope others don't have to have the same experience.
