Dr. Lisa Kay Clayton, MD

I have been going to Dr. Lisa Clayton for a few years for my Tourette’s. Since going to her I have gotten my tics under control. She is a really empathetic person and cares about her patients. She respects her patients time and is never late for appointments. Her assistant is always really nice as well.

My name is Austin, and I've been a patient of Dr. Lisa K Clayton's for 10 years this year. What a decade it has been as a Bipolar 1. She was the one who diagnosed me initially (and I had my diagnosis confirmed with others), and she's been by my side every since. I'm happy to report that, thanks to Lisa's treatment and never giving up on me, I've had 5 solid years almost entirely symptom free! This is almost unheard of for Bipolar 1's. Don't get me wrong, I did my fair amount of self-education and research as my own patient-advocate, as all Bipolar patients and patients with Depression and Anxiety should. You have to look out for yourself! But with Dr. Clayton as my ally, my doctor, and my confidant, I was able to share with her and learn from her about how to deal with my diagnosis and disorder, Bipolar I. The first 5 years were a lot of experimentation as we tried to figure out which medicines were most effective. The trial and error was hard! But there isn't a single Bipolar 1 that… doesn't go through this, and looking back the key for me with all of my success in overcoming my disorder was having a good ally! I don't go manic any more, I rarely feel even a little depressed, I'm emotionally pretty much 'normal' all the time, day in and day out. I can make plans for 5 years from now and not worry if I'll be there to see them through. I consistently take my medicines and me and her found good ones that don't have terrible side-effects for me and still work really well. I have an excellent job now that pays better than almost all of my friends ($45/hour), a happy relationship with my girlfriend, I have an understanding of my family, I live on my own and entirely take care of myself, and hope for an even brighter future than mine is already! People look to me now for advice! Most Bipolar 1's go downhill for the rest of their life even with treatment; I know very well -- I did the research and read all of the statistics when I started down this journey and thought I was headed that way too. But Lisa is very compassionate and understanding, and she really digs into you to figure out where you are, and has an uncanny ability to figure out your inner workings and what's going wrong -- and what's going RIGHT. She knows all of the medicines very well and knows which ones to try for you, based on what you tell her about yourself. You and her might not get it right the first time but don't give up! There is hope! If you don't give up on her she won't give up on you. Also, when I first picked her all those 10 years ago, I remember that a key factor in my decision was that she was a Forensic Psychiatrist. Forensic Psychiatrists have a lot of additional training and they are very good at looking into the inner workings of a person; what makes their brains tick and their behaviors do what they do. They're going to have more insight than your average psychiatrist. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Lisa Clayton. If you're sitting there, depressed, and are looking for a good pdoc (what we call psychiatrists online) or are looking for a loved one, and you live within 50 miles of Southlake, TX... this is the best psychiatrist I've ever had the pleasure of being a patient with, not just best psychiatrist but best doctor. Funny thing is, they don't give any description of what went wrong at all. Maybe they're fakes from competitors. I know Lisa personally and I'd love to talk with someone who didn't have a good experience with her, if they're real.

She was kind and compassionate and very thorough.

Dr was very rushed. Did not listen to me. Staff was also unprofessional. Would not recommend.
