Dr. Lisa Marii Cookingham, MD

Dr.Cookingham is the best! We had her at PREG and because of her expertise and guidance we are now holding our baby boy! She was forward, practical, and had our best interest at heart. Wish we knew where she practices now because we would make the trip for our next transfer!

Dr. Cookingham is a self-centered person who lacks the compassion and experience to help infertility patients. Her listening skills are non-existent, is condescending, and dismissive of any credentialed physician who disagrees with her opinion. She cherry picks patients in order to raise her success ratios even for qualified young candidates. Do not trust Dr. Cookingham to have your best interests in mind. There are many other experienced R.E’s that will provide quality care.

Dr. Cookingham has a lot of strengths. She has been practicing for some time and has a lot of knowledge about Endometriosis and PCOS and the best treatment plans. I have stage IV Endometriosis and my husband has low sperm count so she advised us to do ICSI right from the beginning. We did not know my husband had low sperm count until she tested him. She went over all the blood results for both of us in the following appointment after our blood draws. She was very kind. One of the kindest doctors I have ever had. She made the IVF experience wonderful. I was very scared and apprehensive about the whole thing but she truly was an angel. She also informed me that my diagnosis of PCOS was irrelevant. She saw absolutely no signs of PCOS. I was so relieved and happy to hear that. She is also does IVF for cancer patients and has a lot of knowledge in oncology.

Dr. Cookingham is the most caring, compassionate doctor I have ever been to. In a field where there are constant appointment, sometimes almost daily, Dr. Cookingham makes her best effort to see all her patients personally. She often commutes between the Sacramento and Vacaville office on the same day to make sure she can see all her patients personally. She has always treated me with respect and compassion, and you can tell she absolutely loves what she does. She goes out of her way to make you feel at ease, and spends time just talking with you if that is what you need. I have never had a better experience with a doctor!

First off, I just have to say that I don't know who these negative Nancy's are talking about - but it is certainly not Dr. Cookingham!!!! As a patient that has had fertility problems for many years, seeing her was a breath of fresh air. It is easy to become angry and hostile when things don't go your way fertility-wise, but she has spent her life and career trying to help people like me! All I can say is that the negative comments are clearly from women who have no one else to blame. Dr. Cookingham spends more time with me then any of the other doctors, and actually takes the time to explain why she recommends the treatment we're doing. I can always email her and expect a response right away. For those of you who want a caring, intelligent, and wonderful Doctor, she is the best!

Dr. Cookingham has the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered in an OB/GYN. Do not visit her if you intend to ask any questions as this tends to make her defensive. Just for an example I asked if I was more likely to release eggs from all my mature follicles with an hgg shot as opposed to natural fsh surge and she replied that "It sounded like I was misinformed" but didn't explain further. During the three appointments I have had with her she has made numerous inaccurate statements about my health history and current treatment, but acted dismissive when I corrected her. My most recent consultation went like this: Dr. Cookingham:"So this is your sixth cycle on IUI" Me:"No this will be my third, I've had two previously" Dr. Cookingham: "but you've been on Clomid for 6 months" Me: I'm not on Clomid" Cookingham:"Femara. Whatever. Look, obviously, this, what we are doing, is not working" (um, thanks. That's exactly what I want to hear just before you administer my IUI). If… you are visiting Kaiser for infertility, ask for Dr. Klooser or Dr. Vu and save yourself the trauma of a visit with Dr. Cookingham. Nurse Practitioner Sharma is really nice too, if you don't need an MD
