Dr. Lisa Marie Hainstock, MD

We first met Dr Hainstock upon leaving UVA Hospital, after being there for 5 days. Our baby was healthy but wasn’t gaining the weight as rapidly as they the “norm.” We chose the midwifery program there, but that’s a whole other story. Dr. Hainstock met us and persuasively scheduled herself to come to our house the day after we left the hospital, even though we didn’t want her to. She came and did vitals, etc. and took it upon herself to schedule another visit the next day. When we declined she said “I will have to write in my notes that you are declining, do you want me to do that?” as a sort of threat that if we don’t comply, we’d be in trouble. We then felt threatened and scared so we agreed. She made us feel like we weren’t doing anything right. Right after she left, we called and canceled, finding another pediatrician to go to a few days later. Our baby ended up gaining weight and finally getting some much needed rest without all the staff at the hospital taking vitals… every hour. If you have no parental instinct, maybe she’s a good fit for you, but not for us.
