Dr. Lisa Lucas May, MD

I first went to Dr. May 10 years ago for a minor skin rash and was put on the antibiotic minocycline. I ended up with a terrible adverse effect, landing me in the ER having a lumbar puncture to relieve pressure on my brain and lost peripheral vision in my left eye permanently. I also ended up with a condition called pseudotumor cerebri, which is linked to minocycline, and causes chronic increased pressure in the brain. I did not blame her. How could she have known? I go to her for some eczema 10 years later, and while discussing this, she tries to tell me she warned me about the medication, obviously afraid that I am going to sue, 10 years later.

I will have to say that going to see Dr. May was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend her. She was very professional and very informative. She was knowledgable and explained everything that she was doing, needed to do and what the process would include. Dr. May opened her office early to accomodate an appointment for me as I was referred on an "emergent" case and I greatly appreciate it. Not only was she wonderful, the staff was excellent and I am so blessed to have been referred to her and that practice. Thank you Dr. May! It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to having you provide my care.

I can only say that she has begun charging for procedures that she has not done. Check your insurance statements and you will see it for yourself. I took off my shirt during my last appointment and she charged my insurance for a Full Body Exam. This is dishonest to say the least!

Dr. May and her complete staff have been absolutely wonderful to me and my entire family. Some of us have reached the age where sunworshipping in our younger years has caught up with us, and Dr. May has been very thorough in catching any problems early on so treatment is relatively simple and accurate.

I had been to another dermatologist who barely glanced at me. I am high risk and want a dermatologist who really inspects my skin, not just asks if I have any problems. Dr May is excellent in that regard... if something is suspicious she will find it before it becomes an issue. Additionally, she talks to her patients and really cares about them as people.

Dr. Lisa May has been my dermatologist for 6 years. I had been to another group (highly rated)for skin cancer treatment. I left there because I wanted a female dermatologist and I had heard she finished top of her class at Chapel Hill Medical School by a friend's daughter who was in med school with her. I feel like she is very thorough, & stays on top of my skin issues. I am 61 years old, I have referred her to friends who all have thanked me for the referral. They are as happy with her as I am. She takes as much time as she needs with you, she's very personable. I've never had to wait more than 5 min.

Dr. May is the best physician in my experience. I feel lucky to be her patient. Smart, caring, accomplished and without hubris or ego; a gem.

A very caring professional who listens well and has wonderful recommendations/suggestions.

She was arrogant and presumptuous. She wouldn't even listen to my skin history and made two assumptions about my condition which were later proved wrong. I wasted my time and money. Don't waste yours either.
