Dr. Lisa Wilkinson Oie, MD

I brought my daughter to Dr. Oie for the first time for her 2 year-old check up, because we had recently moved to the area and a friend had recommended her. Although she seemed very knowledgeable and experienced, I felt as though she unfairly judged me for being a single parent. When I told her I was struggling to get my daughter to cooperate with me and let me brush her teeth, rather then giving me helpful tips she told me they might have to "put her to sleep and pull out all her baby teeth." I felt like she assumed I must be uneducated since I am a single mother, and was trying to scare me into brushing my daughter's teeth. She then asked me if I knew about the "great welfare programs they had in Minnesota," and asked how involved my daughter's father was in her life. Again, I was extremely offended and found this totally inappropriate. I have a great job and a Master's Degree, which I did not need to justify to her, just because I am an unmarried woman. As a woman herself, she… should be ashamed of this behavior. Frankly, looking back on it, I think it could be classified as discrimination. My daughter is also biracial, so maybe that also had something to do with her ignorant assumptions. I went home and cried, because she made me feel like an awful parent. I then made an appointment with a pediatric dentist who told me my daughter's teeth were perfectly fine. Completely unnecessary! Will never take my daughter to her again. I would only recommend her to you if you are a Christian, married housewife.

I have had great experiences with Dr Oie. She has helped me with my oldest who is 13 and my baby who is now 8 months. My oldest had Rota virus when he was an infant. Dr Oie was quick to diagnose and got him admitted to the hospital promptly to get rehydrated. My baby was a premie, she and two other doctors oversaw his care for the 16 days he was in the NICU with the help of the nurses. Dr Oie is straight to the point and does not sugar coat anything. Some parents don't appreciate how blunt she is however I love how straight forward her advice is. We had a scare with my oldest and possible diabetes. She was very stern with both myself and my son on how the causes and what needed to be changed. It really helped open my son's eyes about what can happen if you dont exercise regularly and eat too much junk food. I highly recommend Dr Lisa Oie!!!!
