Dr. Lisa Marie Geheb Vopat, MD

I would not waste your time if you are looking for a provider who truly cares about your bone health. What an easy job to refer out to nutritionists who don't follow up or provide care plans for their patients. Between Dr. Darche Dr. Lisa Vopat in the KU Med Sports department, I?ve gone from osteopenia to osteoporosis under their care over the course of the last several years, as a 51-year-old female. During my 3rd visit to Dr. Vopat after falling into the osteoporosis range, she referred me to a functional medicine practice in June of 2026 in Leawood, KS which practices potentially dangerous protocols by inexperienced clinicians. This is where Lisa Vopat goes for her personal bone health.

I felt like Dr. Vopat seemed distracted and adequate time was not spent with me. I had X-rays taken before she came into room and she never told me the results. Did she even look at them? I had forgotten to inquire while I was there. I also really wanted an injection...that wasn’t even an option. I just felt rushed. I received a Velcro brace and “go to PT”. Maybe she was having a bad day but like I said, I didn’t feel like I received the attention needed. My bad for not writing things down before my visit...maybe there would have been more answered questions.

I saw Dr. Lisa Vopat for a chronic shoulder injury. She diagnosed it as upper biceps tendonitis and sent me to physical therapy. I saw the therapist and did the therapy assiduously with no improvement to the condition. Then, because I thought I had tendonitis. I did an exercise I shouldn't have been doing, further exacerbating my injury. I saw Dr, Vopat again and she ordered an M.R. arthrograph. This procedure revealed that I had a SLAP tear, and a torn rotator cuff, but only a hint of tendonitis. I saw Dr, Vopat again, and, not only did she not apologize for her misdiagnosis--causing me months of pain, and a great deal of lost time and effort--she didn't even acknowledge that a misdiagnosis occurred. If you want a correct diagnosis, or a doctor who will admit and apologize when he or she's wrong, I would recommend seeing another doctor.

Had a 10 a.m. appointment for my daughter's athletic physical. We were kept waiting for over an hour with no explanation and no updates. I finally had to find a nurse and ask how much longer it would be as I had an 1145 appt back at work. Dr. Vopat finally arrived in the room at 11:23 a.m., one hour and 23 minutes past my appt time with no explanation, no apology. Dr. Vopat spend about 5-7 minutes examining my daughter.
