Dr. Lloyd Holm, DO

During the labor and delivery of my 4th child, a catastrophic series of events occurred that in all written statics should have resulted in mine and the baby's death. I was laboring normally, preparing for a routine repeat c-cec when suddenly it felt as if I was lit on fire. Dr. Holm immediately recognized this for what it was and my daughter was literally born in less than 5 minutes! My uterus has rutptured (split open) causing the placenta to abrupt (rip off the uterine wall). My daughter was pushed out into my abdominal cavity with no oxygen, the stress causing her to poop inside of me. Dr. Holm delivered my child with an agar of 7 and no brain death! I also healed successfully with no infection, shock, etc. and dr. Holm was able to save my uterus and my ability to have more children! A true miracle. I am now pregnant with a healthy set of twins none of this would have been possible without dr. Holm. All of this happened at a small rural hospital in Iowa and an outcome that… wouldn't have been expected at the University of Iowa or Mayo was achieved thanks to dr. Holm, Dr. Marthers and the amazing staff at Washington Hospital. We have them to thank for my life, the life of my beautiful daughter, and the lives of my unborn twins, expected in January. Don't drive to the U and be treated like a number on an assembly line when you can get the best care imaginable right here at home! The birthing suites at the hospital are fantastic- I delivered my oldest at St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids, it doesn't compare. You, your new baby, and your family are treated like royalty by the amazing nurses and staff at Washington Hospital.
