Dr. Lloyd May, MD

I went to see Dr. May after my regular doctor, Dr. Irving, retired. He was very short with his answers to me and appeared to be disinterested. He told me that I was overmedicated on my blood pressure medication and took me off one prescription while cutting in half the other one. A week later, I had a stroke affecting my right side. I had my neighbor drive me to his office. His nurse took my blood pressure and said it was normal. Dr. May did aquick examination and said I needed to go to a hospital E.R. that he could not do anything for me. I told hi I was going to Providence Hospital E.R. and would he call them? He said he would. When I arrived at Providence he had never called them. . I now have a good doctor treating me, see my review of Dr. Nancy Weible, that was recommended by the hospital doctor. If you value your health, don't see this doctor. He should retire and not practice medicine any longer.

I went to dr Lloyd May 5 times in 3 weeks complaining about severe pain in my right arm that moved to my right shoulder at night it when it started it would last 5 minutes are so and then started last longer and longer. Every time I went to him he would say your cholesterol, blood pressure, weight is all good there's nothing wrong with you the last time I went and saw him with my complaints I told him he was an incompetent idiot who should stop seeing patients because you don't care. I'm going to see a cardiologist. Dr Dale Hardy listen to me ordered a nuclear stress on Friday I was rushed to the ER on Sunday on Monday I went into surgery I had a 98% blockage a 88% blockage and 30% blockage in the heart veins. Dr. Hardy told me he is sick of doctors ignoring woman's complains of heart issues and that I could have died. Never again will I ever go to that quack Dr. May.

A terrible doctor. I have been going to Family Medical for about 40 years. I find myself without insurance now so I paid the usual $90 office visit. I had poison ivy and needed a shot to counteract as I had gotten there many times in the past. The doctor came in, I showed him the whelps. He was there less than a minute. The nurse came in, gave me a shot and I went to check out. He had upped the office visit and charged me extra for the shot. My bill was $194. Don't go to this JERK....

If you are looking for a doctor, DO NOT go to Lloyd May in the Mobile Infirmary medical system. He is unprofessional, uncooperative, disinterested, and most of all unhelpful. Save yourself the worry and stress, and find someone else who will actually care about your health issues

This was the worst doctor we have ever seen. My husband's first time to see this doctor, and his major complaint was having trouble breathing after about 5 steps, and a hiatal hernia that is huge. Husband weighs 460 lbs. This is exactly what he did, he came in the patient's room and he introduced his self to us. Next, he got some history, and listened to his chest and breathing, and stood back and said there is nothing I will do, and nobody will touch you as long as you are that size. My husband asked if he would prescribe lasix, he said NO, and turned around and walked out the door. No shaking hands, nice to meet you or nothing, before or after. If I could have given him no stars for bedside manner, accurate diagnosis, and spends time with me, that's what I would have given him.

Dr. May is a suboxone only doctor, he seems to work only for money and is not driven by patient care. While we all must realize all doctors work for money, Dr. May makes no effort to do anything other than write you a prescription for a narcotic and rudely send you on your way. He has chosen to concentrate on Suboxone yet he seems to look down on the patients he chooses to treat. His contracts are verbal and he does not withhold his work. He does not administrate the urine test each visit, or ever for that matter, nor does he offer any solutions for coming off the narcotics he writes prescriptions for.Dr. May does later increase the price and tell you that although he promised to treat you until you are well for $1000.00 up front, he tells you later he needs another 1k. Although I realized he was not a great care giver, the drug he prescribes has saved so many lives I chose to refer over 20 people to him. I am the only patient he is still paying due to the fact that I have a good job… and can afford his surprise billing. The bad thing is that those I tried to help are now worse off because they were mildly addicted to loritab, now to fight the pain of coming off suboxone these people have to take oxycontin. Dr. May has ruined their life and unfortunately the suboxone manufacture does not provide a way to seek outside help after becoming addicted to their medicine other than listing other doctors who although may be caring people, still charge up front fees.I would also like to add that Dr. May has made many sexual advances toward me and as I gradually got the nerve to stand up for myself as the visits progressed, this is when his careless treatment went from neutral to negative. I did not hear of other reports from friends about this type of misconduct but this is something you should consider before seeing him.In short, look at other websites and look at his reviews, he has low ratings because Dr. May is a bad person in his heart. His office staff seems to be relatively unhappy and they realize everyone there is trying hard to get their life straitened out yet are under diress seeing Dr. May. This leads to unhappy patients and unhappy staff, I have seen this get worse over time and you will notice this yourself if you choose to go to their clinic for what the code "the program".
