Dr Perino is not just a bad doctor his lack of care and ability was dangerous based on our experience. He continually changed my husbands diagnosis and could never give him definitive answers. My husband asked about a specific routine medication to treat his condition and Dr Perino told him it wasn't and option and moved to an incredibly severe drug instead. My husband had a horrible reaction to the drug and called his office and never received a call back until 5 days later, when they called for something unrelated. We placed 2 more calls immediately back and never received a call back. By this time my husband was so sick I drove him to the University of Utah ER where he was admitted immediately for several days. Dr Perino's office ignored 3 requests to send his records to the U of U. Ironically after my husband was admitted to the hospital Dr. Perino suddenly called us back and blamed everything on his office staff. Even if the failure to call back truly was the office staffs fault,… they were not the ones who misdiagnosed my husband, made critical errors during important procedures, and could not prescribe correct medications or correct dosages of medications. My husband suffered under Dr Perino's care for over a year. I never take the time to write reviews but I know what it is like to need help and search for a doctor. Take it from us, you want to seek it elsewhere.

When Dr. Perino practiced in Moscow, Idaho, I was a patient of his for over 19 years. I found him to be a very caring and compassionate doctor. His bedside manner became kinder as he got to know me. I was always able to call him if I had a question and he got back to me that day or the next. Now I have to talk to my new doctor's nurse so that I don't bother him. He always made me feel relaxed and not worry about my concerns. I certainly miss him and have not felt as well mentally or physically as when he was treating me.

Dr. Perino has absolutely no bedside manner. Even if you are highly educated in the medical field he treats like you are stupid, and won't answer any intelligent questions you ask him. He continually prescribes medications with huge co-pays (even when you have great insurance, ) you take them for a year or so with no results, and then he tells you the drug really isn't effective, and prescribes another drug with just as large a co-pay. We are talking about $880 copay for 3 months, and another with a $239.00 co-pay for one month. And none of them work. I wish there were other gastroenterologists in the area, but there are not. I would rather drive 250 miles if I have to, than continue to be treated like a dummy and the never get any better. My condition is actually worse after 3 years of treatment.

Ripped ME Off! Horrible Attitude

We did not like him. He doesn't talk to people like he likes them. He talks down to the patients.

Worst Dr. Ever! I was in great pain after a procedure and when I phoned the doctor he was rude and said the pain was not due to anything he did and told me I could pay to have another procedure...what a crock you would think a Dr. Would show more concern with people under his care. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anypne!

Horrible, just horrible. So many of these reviews are dead on to my experience. Dr Perino started out great-seemed caring etc... but then it stopped. It got to the point of him asking "what would you like me to do?" ummm...well if I tell you that--do I send YOU the BILL? Ultimately I got a second opinion from a different facility and that did not go over well with Dr Perino at all. The mere suggestion that I went caused comments such as "well that was a waste of time..." no, actually it was not. The most recent event was that the "second opinion Dr." recommend a particular treatment, Dr. Perino convinced me to try a different drug, so I did. It didn't work and he then told me that the first (recommended) drug simply would not work. After about forcing him to write the prescription it's now been WORKING for about 3 months. I asked him repeatedly if I should be doing blood tests since this drug recommends doing so and I was told "no". The second opinion Dr asked how the blood… tests were going and when I informed them that Dr Perino said it wasn't necessary, they were in shock. This drug has lethal effects if not properly monitored. It's crazy to me that he seemed to want to totally avoid the one drug that is actually working, and even more crazy that a doctor is willing to disregard warnings from drug manufactures to perform blood tests--and even more insane that the patient requesting those tests was also denied. I can go on with many other stories of things he did or said, but it's been about covered with the previous comments. I sure I hope IM finds a GI doctor.

After having stomach problems for 2 or 3 months I was referred to Dr. Perino. Scheduling my appointment was simple, and when I arrived for my appointment his staff was perfectly pleasant. That was where everything went downhill. Not only did I wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time (on numerous occasions) but when I did finally see him he was the most rude, arrogant doctor I've ever met. He ran numerous tests for rare diseases, focusing on finding one diagnosis that fit all of my symptoms. When he was unable to find what was wrong, instead of saying "Well, I don't know what's wrong. I'll refer you to another specialist who may be able to help." he told me the following: "None of the tests I've run have come up positive, leading me to believe that the cause of your nausea, daily vomiting and dizziness are due to outside stress. Sometimes when you get stressed, you look for things to be wrong, and convince your body that it's sick. There's nothing further I can do." REALLY?!… Is that what it means to be a doctor nowadays? I can't figure it out so it's all in your head? He made me feel as though I was making everything up, that I was an attention grabber and that I wasn't really sick. Good thing I went to Spokane and found a real doctor who was able to diagnose me. Dr. Perino gets a one star rating, and the only reason it's that high is because it won't let me give him a zero.
