Dr. Lois Marie Mcnally, MD

A simply excellent opthomologist, who treated my glaucoma symptons perfectly.

I got a card from Dr. McNally announcing her promotion at SUNY Downstate and that her office was moving to the financial district. Unfortunately I misplaced it and called the NYEEI, and they refused to tell me how to contact her ( probablybecause they wanted to keep all her patients). I used the internet and found her thought the Downstate website and was given an appointment promptly. She welcomed me back and still think she is an excellent doctor, who thinks about the patient as a whole person. NYEEI should have been honest and given me the information I needed!

Dr. Lois McNally left the Eye and Ear Infirmary without calling her patients to tell them they no longer had appointments. Distressed, baffled, freaked-out, formerly loyal patients have shown up at the NYEEI office, in the rain and snow and hail, partly sighted, some on walkers, only to be told she wasn't there anymore, and that it was her responsibility to inform patients. Was it? Or was the NYEEI responsible for calling her patients and rebooking them? Shouldn't both the doc and the NYEEI have made sure patients knew they no longer had appointments? Some elderly patients travelled hours, only to be turned away. We thought and think Dr. Lois McNally is a pretty good doctor. But not good enough for frightened, fragile people, many of whom take off work and travel at length, or are elderly, to be blown off in this manner. There are plenty of excellent doctors in New York and we'll find one who doesn't leave partially-sighted patients hanging.
