Dr. Lois Tuerk Mendelsohn, MD

She claimed that I was not allergic to things that I know I am allergic to (even after confirmed by a blood test) and showed no interest in me as a person. I would not go to her again.

Said that whatever I reported being allergic to I was not. Talked fast, with little attention and said there is nothing she can do for me.

The first thing Dr. Mendelsohn said to me after I explained my reasons for the visit was that she wasn't the right kind of doctor for me to be seeing. I am not sure why if that was the case her nurse did not screen me out or she did not have me leave at that point, but that is not where the issues ended. I continued to ask her questions because I had done research before the appointment, and everything I asked her about she told me wasn't happening to me and she either didn't want to test or would test but "everything would be negative." After the appointment the nurse called to say my blood tests were all fine, but I could see on Quest that one of them was flagged. When I called back she told me that if I wanted to discuss it I would have to make an appointment and meet with the doctor. I have had further allergy testing since this appointment, and have had other positive blood test results. She decided from the minute she met me that “there was nothing wrong” and as a result did not… give me thorough treatment.

She has "immunology" as part of her title but I don't think that term goes beyond standard common-place allergy shots. If you want common allergy shots go to her, but if you want to get well or to get to the root of immune issues or why you face keeps swelling or anything about finding out what's wrong and how to get better, it will be a waste of your money. I saw her for <15 minutes, with NO tests, no diagnosis, no suggestions and she said as she headed for the door, "You don't need to come back and see me" and shut. I have high ANA, low white blood cell count, I react to the slightest chemicals in the environment, I react to foods, but she didn't have any kind of substantive discussion or any direction. She said I should take it up with my Primary Care doctor when I see her. AND they charged me $397.47 for less than 15 minutes of bland conversation! Are you kidding? It seems like only 25% of the doctors I've met in the medical profession actually investigate, listen and try… to help you get well. She's not one of them.

Good doctor but has become increasingly concerned with $ over her patients needs. Requires annual allergy tests for her patients and won’t renew prescriptions or school emergency forms without annual appointment - won’t even extend the current school forms an additional week to hold a patient over until their next visit! Awful. Truly out of touch with human decency.

Would never see her again. Not great doctor.
