Dr. Lonna Shay Bufford, MD

Dropped me as a patient without notifying me beyond a letter that I never received. Would not return calls to inform me that I needed a new PCP when I clearly had not gotten the notification. Called multiple times over two weeks trying to figure out what was going on because the front desk person would not tell me (I was told that in order to schedule an appt I’d need to speak with the nurse) and the nurse would not return my calls. I was actively seeking to get lab work done and expressing urgency. Super unethical.

Refused to continue treatment even thought it was working, which made me very ill and unable to function. Made me feel like a nuisance or a hypochondriac when I asked questions. Blamed everything on mental health even though I had medical diagnoses that explained symptoms. Refused to listen when I advocated for myself. Refused to see me for an appointment and just ordered labs when I had an appointment with her scheduled. Missed diagnoses that were clear to other physicians. Nurses are friendly but can't be bothered when you ask questions about your care or for refills. A friend had a similar experience at the Elkins clinic. Doctors are not Gods. They are human. God save us all from their egos.

The absolute best family doctor you could ask for. She's attentive, and takes every problem seriously. We love her.

Dr Bufford is thorough and informed. I felt very confident after my appointment with her that my medical care is in good hands with her.

Dr Bufford listened to my symptoms and was aggressive in treating my problem. Without her referral to a specialist the outcome would not have turned out so well. She's also great for other small things like sinus infections. Highly recommend.

Dr. Bufford was very nice and caring. She seemed to take an interest in my health and she was very genuine.

I really like Dr. Bufford, she is down to earth and cares about your issues. She treats our family and so far I have been nothing but impressed.
