Dr. Lorerky Ramirez-Moya, MD

While pregnant with her son, Dr. Lorerky Ramirez-Moya completed her child and adolescent fellowship at the Universidad de M+¬xico. She focused on learning developmental disabilities and autism at the University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability Pediatrics. Two years after completing her fellowship, her son was diagnosed with autism and a rare genetic disease. Since his diagnosis, Dr. Ramirez-Moya has been working and advocating for the developmental disability community. As a mother, Dr. Ramirez-Moya understands the struggles of dealing with insurance, schools, and community services for a child with a developmental disability. As a doctor, she understands the difficulties in managing medications for patients facing such issues and who could respond uniquely to psychopharmacology. Dr. Ramirez-Moya understands the importance of working with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physical therapists, case managers, …neurologists, and school staff. Dr. Ramirez-Moya is committed to caring for Hispanic and bilingual children who struggle with mental illness and cultural adaptation.
