Dr. Lori A. Nelson-Madison, MD

I am 80 years old and this is one of the sharpest doctors I have encountered. Made several diagnoses that other doctors missed. Very smart, very dry sense of humor (which some people may not pick up on). I feel lucky to have found her. Highly recommended.

This doc is chill...so chill that she doesn't seem to give a care about what you may possibly need. Maybe she is tired or works long hours? Maybe she has burn out? Maybe she has 6 kids? I don't know. She is pleasant, friendly but doesure not at any point sit down with the patient and make a structured plan to help you get better. I like to know what will happen next. All she made me VERY aware of is that her ultimate objective was to get me off of pain medication. This is not a bad thing, I want off of it too! The level of pain I experience when I taper off meds is crippling. It scares me because something has to seriously change in the status of my health, DDD, spinal stenosis, failed laminectomy syndrome, c spine, migraines and other neurological issues. Conclusion? I really like her as a person. She is sweet, kind, friendly and takes a seat to talk to you. She seems sincere. I don't know if she is the PM Dr for me because I still am not clear on what exactly her plan to taper me off… med includes. She doesn't do much for the anxiety and fear that goes along with chronic pain. She simply insists that I am in pain due to the fact I take pain meds. I tapered of 3 times in the past, once for 16 months to see if the pain would improve with exercise. I ended up on Ibuprofen 800 twice per day which helped until I had severe internal bleeding and required several blood transfusions before and after surgery on the bleed. I am not sure if she believes me. I'm really not sure what she thinks about me other that she believes I require too much pain medicine.
