Dr. Lori L Vanyo, MD

My surgeries were performed in September and October 2022. It's taken me awhile to write this review because my experience with Lori Vanyo left me filled with anxiety, discouragement, fear and anger. Lori Vanyo was extremely cold and appeared to be desensitized when it came to my care as a patient. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy performed separately by Vanyo. When I returned for my lumpectomy post-op she visually examine my breast. Lori never once touch my breast with her hand to feel for scared tissue or any abnormities. After my sentinel node removal, she never scheduled a post-op. It appeared she was willing to cut me but not touch me or spend time with me as a patient. Unbelievable treatment from a doctor with her experience. Whenever I called to speak with her she never returned not one of my calls. Actually she did once! The day before my surgery when her assistant called that night and I informed her I was cancelling my surgery. Lori Vanyo called me… immediately that night. I am a Black woman and I have no idea if that placed apart in her treatment of me as a patient or if she's just a cold, removed individual. It is already a know fact that Blacks don't trust doctors because of unbalanced treatment between the lines of ethnicities. I truly wish I would have followed my gut feeling and never allowed Lori Vanyo to preform my surgery. She has left me with a total distrust I never had toward doctors. I read a review on this page from a patient dated 2015 and thought it absolutely necessary to write about my experience. If a patient doesn't feel their doctor care about them, their chance of recovery lessen. I did not return for my last appoint with Lori Vanyo. She left me feeling betrayed and angry. Janice H...

Dr. Vanyo performed a thyroidectomy on me a decade ago, and recently breast cancer surgery. She is hands down the best doctor/surgeon I have ever had. Competent and caring skills, precision technique, and genuinely cares about her patients.

After meeting with other surgeons, Dr. Vanyo is in a class of her own. Her experience, knowledge, and ability to articulate the process of my surgery and follow up treatment using visual aids and models was very reassuring and quelled a lot of my anxiety. Her practice also uses state-of-the-art procedures.

I had a mass in my thyroid 3 other surgeons didn't want to touch. Dr Vanyo was confident she could help me- and she did! She is very knowledgeable, talked to me so I understood the procedure and next steps, she even drew pictures. She was kind, patient, and genuinely cared for my well being. I can't tell you how much I appreciated Dr Vanyo's compassion and SKILL! She saved my life.

Dr Vanyo saw me for breast cancer. She was supposed to follow my care to make sure it didn't return. In her office, I waited over 2 hours, was asked by her staff if I kindly would wait yet another hour, and so I did. I was concerned about a mass I found and wanted to make sure the cancer wasn't back. I was shocked and offended when her staff asked if I would go home and return another day as Dr Vanyo was too far behind to see me. I left a message for her But she never called. Sadly, my cancer returned. I felt I wasn't important enough to be followed closely. By the time I was correctly diagnosed by another doctor, the cancer had spread to stage 4. I think each patient should be seen and offered the same quality care. I even called to inform Dr Vanyo that the cancer had returned and she never returned my call. I was a patient who was forgotten about. It took a long time to trust any doctor again.

Dr. Vanyo is an excellent doctor. She is caring and takes the time to listen to all of your concerns. She takes special interest and care in each of her patients cases. I feel blessed to have been referred to such an amazing doctor.

I was referred to Doctor Vanyo for a pallpable breast mass. Prior to my firt appointment with Doctor Vanyo I had 6 ultrasounds and 2 MRI's with no clear diagnosis. I was a new patient when I arrived at Chaparell Medical Group following all the diagnostic testing. I immediately felt in safe hands. Dr. Vanyo was very thorough with her exam and her confidence is a pleasant bonus. To find a doctor that you trust and have faith in is huge! I felt I could just relax and stop explaining all my symptoms and tests and let her work her magic. I consider myself blessed to be her patient. Dr. Lori Vanyo has superceded my expectations! Her staff is wonderful and she is beyond remarkablle!! Top Notch!!! If the waiting room time becomes lenghty it is only because she is focusing on the patient ahead of you.. as she will do the same for you!! I love her!
