Dr. Louis Aviles, MD

I have lived in Saint Petersburg for 21 years. Over those years, I have traveled to Clearwater 19 miles away to see Dr.Aviles as my gastroenterologist. He has performed on me regular colonoscopies as well as treated me for strange stomach viruses I somehow picked up in my foreign travels. Most recently, he helped pull me off a “mental window ledge” when I thought I might have pancreatic cancer which took my mother. He and his staff personally lined up the specialists for me to see faster than anyone thought possible. In addition to being a Harvard-trained physician, he has the most unusual combination of being extremely competent along with a winning pleasing bedside manner. What more could a patient ask for?

Dr. Aviles is an exceptional physician. He is a highly skilled practitioner who is personable and caring. I feel blessed to be one of his patients.

I was a patient of Dr. Aviles and in 2014 was admitted to the hospital in Critical Care for 13 days. When a gastroenterologist was needed, the Dr. was not available. (understandable) Another Dr. was called in and took care of my acute medical needs. I was hospitalized for 3 months and required follow up care by the other Dr. When I called for an appointment to resume my care with Dr. Aviles I was refused because I had been seen by another Dr. in past 12 months. That was not by choice!! The office staff is not "patient friendly" and the office closes early (?) and no one answers the phone. They could not explain why they were closed early. On Wed when at the Countryside office no one answered the phone. Where is the compassion in our medical care? Why do we need to fight for decent care? When will these facilities properly train the employees that greet patients and try to help rather than humiliate. I was very pleased with Dr. Aviles and his care, too bad office politics and people got… in the way!!

Dr. Aviles is very personable with an excellent bed-side manner. He is professional and knowledgeable. He personally called me to give me the results of my colonoscopy! Overall, he is an excellent Gastroenterologist

Dr. Aviles is such an excellent doctor. I felt so comfortable with him and very at ease with my procedure. He was very thorough and attentive and actually listened when I described my symptoms and the difficulties I was having. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable. Dr. Aviles is the best!

This doctor deserves ZERO stars. He has the most nonsense"office policies", he wouldn't receive patients who have seen a gastro before. You basically need to be a "gastro virgin" for him to attend you, he likes being the first one in your behind...literally (a.k.a if you get a colonoscopy), that is surprisingly sick and twisted. I've never met someone with so clueless notion about attending patients, and the most moronic reasons for refusing to give service. That's not the point of being a doctor, I took my family with this doctor, and it was more than useless, it was even harmful, being belittled just like that. All his so-said education is worthless, all that he may know goes to trash with this attitude, a person that holds grudges, closed minded that doesn't care about his patients. Please go with any other doctor if you're looking for a GI. Don't put your health in the hands of a person like this.

Poor practice. Refuses a patient because of his partner at Mease.. I had high hopes for you Dr Aviles. I had a bad experience with Ahn and he was absolutely wrong. He is an anchor to your practice When you were needed, you stood by him by refusing me. You are the only other option nearby in my network. But you don’t care. Hippocratic oath I think not. I am left thinking hypocrite. Partner over patient truly hinders your practice. Good luck with that.

Dr. Aviles is a very kind, patient oriented doctor with great t expertise who puts his patients at ease as he diagnoses and applies his skills to their ailments.
