Dr. Louis Christifano, DO

saw Dr at urgent care - 1st time w/ him. He clearly read all my recent visit reports on file before seeing me. Took time to review the notes and explain why issues were ongoing. Gave me options and explained each one. Offered that he was on call for the weekend if I needed anything further and he would update my Dr over the weekend, as well. Listened, empathised, showed concern & caring.

Dr. Christafano is not my regular doctor. I have seen him on three occasions in Urgent Care clinic in past 4 years. Most recently about a month ago. Each time he has diagnosed my problems and helped with a treatment plan that resulted in long term success. I would highly recommend him.

Was not impressed by his nurse. This was my first visit with him. His nurse was rude and came across as bossy.He played the part well but i was soon referred out for a simple issue. I will not be returning.

I have been a patient of Dr. Christifano for over 10 years. He treats you as a whole person not just a specific symptom. He takes the time to listen and explain and discuss thoroughly. I highly reccomend him and his practice and have referred several who are also as pleased as I am under his care.

Staff and nurse is not very helpful, and often acts like you are putting her out. I thought it was me but had my wife call and she returned mad also. As others have said they want you coming back every week. They also will not do even the simplest procedure. They always refer you to a specialist in their group. Then you are paying the co-pay to the specialist also. The specialist wants to see you every week also, now you are seeing two doctors in their group every week. There seems to be an awful lot of missed communications between staff including doctors. I will be leaving soon.

My impression of Dr. Christifano is he can handle the easy cases but if the case is more involved or requires more time than a 10 minute office call then he's done trying and it's time to ship you to off to another doctor or he'll repeat all the same tests again to see if they are positive now. I have been bounced back and forth between Dr. Christifano and 2 other doctors, none of which apparently communicate like they said they would., So when I suffered side effects from the medications I was put on, was in so much pain I could not sleep for 2 days, the only OTC medication I could take was tylenol and that did nothing, all Christifano said was make an appointment for next week. Really? I have been a patient of his for 7 years and he couldn't phone in a script to the pharmacy to relieve the pain. I knew at that point, he wants the money only, does not want to be bothered unless you are paying for an office call, and I will never see him again. Pathetic and poor standard of… care, I feel like I have a fever of 104 and a knife in my head 24/7 and he wants to see me next week.

He is an incredible doctor. I had a respiratory infection that I had seen about 4 doctors for. Nothing was getting rid of it until I saw him. He is very thorough. I have family members who are doctors that highly recommend him too.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Christifano and have found the level of care I received declining over the past couple years. He doesn't seem to want to treat problems other than a sore throat or the flu. If it's more complicated than that, he recommends you out to a specialist. Not willing to try to work with you, nor does he even coordinate his efforts with the specialists he sends you to for care. We have some health issues in our family, but I know others who see different docs at Leawood Fam Care who are treated for things in the office - not referred out. Save yourself and just see a different doc first - you'll be doing it anyway. We're switching to a different doc with the practice since we love the convenience of their urgent care and the proximity to our home.
