Gerken, D.D.S. (Lou)
Dr. Lou Gerken
was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in
Denver, Colorado. He is the third oldest
child in a family of eleven! After
completing undergraduate and dental school
at Creighton University (Omaha, Nebraska),
he served two years as a Captain in the
United States Army offering dental care to
soldiers and their families at the Fort
Riley base in Kansas. He then obtained his
advanced specialty pediatric training at The
University of Nebraska Medical Center. After
residency in 1979, he and his wife, Becky,
moved to Loveland, where they established
his practice and raised their three
daughters. Dr. Gerken is pleased to call the
Sweetheart City his home. In 2009, he
celebrated his 30th anniversary of
practicing as a pediatric dentist in
Loveland. He is proud to be seeing many 2nd
generation patients. Dr. Gerken was pleased
to have his daughter, Katie (Dr. Galm), join
his practice in August 2009. They look
forward to providing your child with
excellent …and compassionate dental care.
Dr. Gerken is
happily married to his wife, Becky, who is
not only Nana, but babysitter, for their two
granddaughters. Together they value their
family life, and are very involved with
their church. Dr. Gerken is an active part
of the Loveland community, serving on the
board of the Loveland Community Health
Center, as well as the Health Advisory Board
of the Thompson R2-J School District. When
Dr. Gerken isn’t taking care of kid’s teeth,
he enjoys gardening, traveling, salmon
fishing with his brothers in Alaska, golfing
with his son-in-laws, and spending time with
his family and friends (especially his 2
grandkids). Dr. Gerken, and his staff,
dedicate themselves to providing the best
dental care possible for their patients,
ensuring that they have positive and fun
experiences while learning to care for their
own oral health.
