Dr. Louis Jacques, MD, FRCSC, is a highly esteemed thoracic surgeon dedicated to providing compassionate, state-of-the-art care for his patients. With a lifelong commitment to chest surgery, Dr. Jacques and his team prioritize excellence in their medical practice. His impressive academic accolades include the Howard Gray Travel Award from the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic in 1989 and the O.T. Clagett Travel Award from the Division of Thoracic Surgery & CV Surgery at Mayo Clinic in 1991. Dr. Jacques has significantly contributed to the field through numerous research papers published in prestigious journals like the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Chest Surgery Clinics of North America, and the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Additionally, he has co-authored several books on thoracic surgery, reflecting his depth of knowledge and expertise.

Board certified in General Surgery and General Thoracic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada …and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Jacques is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, the General Thoracic Surgery Club, and the Priestly Society. He performs surgeries at M Health Fairview Southdale in Edina and United Hospital in Saint Paul. His areas of special interest encompass all aspects of general thoracic surgery, including both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall, diaphragm, esophagus, and stomach. Dr. Jacques is proficient in advanced techniques such as Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) lobectomy and other minimally invasive lung resections, as well as thoracoscopic methods for pleural and mediastinal diseases, and laparoscopic treatment of hiatal and paraesophageal hernias. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Jacques is a proud father of four daughters and enjoys hockey and cycling.
