If you are old do NOT see Dr Stryker. He doesn't listen, and has an age chart built into his brain that decides whether or not you should be capable of doing something, When I called for an appt I told the person what I suspected the problem might be and that I wasn't currently interested in surgery but a diagnosis of the problem so I might consider alternatives. I had the hip xray they requested I have done. At the beginning of my appt I explained to Dr Stryker that I had had the problem a while and that I had all the symptoms of a torn labrum. I also told him what activities I had done in the past (Pilates, plenty of hiking) and what I recently tried to do which gave me enough pain the see a doctor. When I asked if I had a torn labrum his response was "Probably. You're of that age." He refused to do anything to verify whether or not that was the problem. When he asked my goal I responded to be able, once again, to easily walk 10 miles. His response: "That's… unreasonable." Then I said "ok, to walk 4 or 5 miles". Same response from him. I'm in good physical shape, except for the hip problem, and certainly should be able to walk 4 or 5 miles, or more. I also explained that I had virtually no outer rotation in my left hip. He put me on the table and tested my range of motion for a totally different area which has no problem. When I showed him the lack of outer rotation, he just started ranting about me being an old person just wanting Medicare to pay for my surgery. Maybe he's ok if you're not old enough that he's already decided you should be immobile.

He is not a robotic doctor. Is very human, kind, cares about patient comfort, personal follow up. constantly following up the therapist. He did hip replacement on me. After 2 weeks I left the walker, by week 7, I have been dancing with my husband
