Dr. Louis Gerard Tumminia, DO

Dr.Tumminia has treated my family for over 20 years, he is a fantastic diagnostician and so compassionate, never have to wait and his office staff are both very professional and very friendly treating myself and other patients like family. Highly recommend!

I’ve been with DrT for 25 years. I wouldn’t ever think of changing. I am very happy with the kindness, caring and attention DrT gives. I have never felt rushed, and he is always on time. Excellent Doctor!

While I cannot speak to Dr Tumminia's medical expertise, as he was my mother's doctor, I can speak to his utter lack of communication. If you think you might get sick between appointments, or need some advice, this is NOT the doctor for you. He does not have an email, his office staff does not answer phone calls, and messages will not be returned for at least several days, regardless of the urgency. Your only choice is the ER or Urgent Care. There is no way to reach him and he obviously wants it that way. My mother was his patient for several years and was recently hospitalized with an infection and fractured pelvis. She was 96 and not getting better. Although Tumminia saw her in the hospital and discharged her after a week, he made NO attempt to contact us, her family, even though we left several messages at his office. We were confused, anxious and upset, not knowing what her prognosis was and what the best course of action would be. We finally consulted with a palliative… care nurse who told us that my mother would not recover, and we decided on hospice. One of Tumminia's assistants/office staff returned our call 5 days later, well after these decisions had to be made, and only a day before she passed away. I can only assume that this doctor does not really care about his patients or about providing the best care possible. (In case you think this had to do with privacy issues, my mother was unconscious and we all had Releases of Information. I also had a Healthcare Proxy, all of which was communicated on our unanswered messages.)

I truly appreciate having Dr Tumminia as my primary care physician. He is very compassionate and always able to hear and address my concerns. His staff is also excellent.

Saw a PA first time to Dr. Tumminia's office for a routine checkup. All good. Took another six months to schedule first visit w/the good doctor. Took blood. Took five weeks to hear back from his office w/the results to my blood test. Developed a chest infection, called to go in that morning. Was told no appointments were available for the next two days. Let me get this straight: Everything was great when I operated on his schedule, but the first time I actually need his help (or help from anyone at his office), I was told to consult an urgent care center. That's not medicine. That's business...

I’ve been with Dr. T since before he opened his private practice. Magnificent doctor. My sister is a doctor as well with 25 years experience and when she came with me to an appointment she too was amazed at how friendly and extremely knowledgeable he is. “Doctors like him are very few and far between” she told me. I most highly recommend Dr. T. His staff is very pleasant and caring from receptionist to PA. I wish I can give him a score of more than 5 stars.

Dr. Lou is always pleasant to visit. He greets you with a big smile and hand shake and takes as much time as needed to hear your concerns. He is a level headed doctor who takes a conservative approach to your health. Together we have been making the best decisions for my personal health care needs for years.

His office is horrible with insurance responsibilities and refill/verification paperwork. OK doctor but slow staff and uses PA 'so too much.
