Dr. Louise Marie Baxter, MD

My 30 week preemie spent 40 days under the primary care of Dr. Baxter. Although my daughter was cared for by other physicians, Dr. Baxter was the person we trusted the most. Don't get me wrong, the other doctors were also spectacular when it came to my daughter's care, but Dr. Baxter had a way with breaking it down for us. Whenever there was a concern with my little one's health, she was always the one to clarify the severity and put it in Layman's terms for us. When my daughter was ready for discharge at 4ish pounds I was a little apprehensive, but ultimately trusted her expertise and judgement. My 30 weeker is now 8 months old (6 months corrected) and is happy and healthy!

Dr. Baxter always showed a real interest in caring for our son and making sure the right choices where made even though not all three of his specialists agreed on how to proceed with his treatments and surgeries. She also exhibited real dedication to learning more about our son's condition, which she had not encountered before, and even arranged for an expert to come and give a seminar at the hospital for all the doctors so everyone could learn more. She even have our son gifts on the holidays he spent in the NICU and when she came back from her vacation in Japan she brought him a souvenir. She went above and beyond to make sure our family felt safe and comfortable while we had our 12 week stay there at Emanuel. THANK YOU!!!
